Randomness

Random things I wanted to share with my blog buddies:

Dinner Group

Went to book club dinner group (only 10% of us actually read the books, so we’re just a dinner group now–LOL!) last week and it was a potluck. My contribution? Barbecue Ham. My mom used to make this for potlucks and church functions and it was always a hit.

The day before dinner group, I texted my sister for the recipe and she sent me a lengthy list of ingredients with instructions. After mentioning to her that I would need to buy a bunch of spices and other various items I didn’t have for the recipe, she suggested I do what she does sometimes when she makes Barbecue Ham for her family: Just use BBQ sauce. Hello? Super simple.

So here is the recipe. It’s so easy, you’re going call my crazy…

Easy Barbecue Ham

  • 2.5-3 lbs. paper-thin sliced ham (I took a ham to the meat counter in my grocery store and had them slice it)
  • 2 bottles of BBQ sauce (Only use half of the second bottle. I used Kraft Hickory Smoke BBQ sauce and put the leftover half bottle in the fridge)
  • About 3/4 cup water
  • 1 dozen rolls, sliced sandwich style

Throw all (except the rolls) in a crock pot. With clean hands, or tongs, move the ham around and coat it with the sauce. Cook in crock pot on low for 4 hours (or if in a pinch, on high for 2 hours). Basically just warm it through. You could also do this on the stove until it’s heated.

Serve with sliced rolls (everyone puts the ham in the rolls for a sandwich).

Super easy, right?! All the girls at dinner group loved it and multiple people asked for the recipe. I had to laugh! It was so easy. :) I think you could added some pineapple before turning on the crock pot and it would be awesome, too!

If you’re ambitious and have a BBQ sauce recipe you love, you could easily make your own and I bet it would taste even better!

White Elephant Gifts (Clowns?)

Also at dinner group, we did a white elephant gift exchange. One of the gifts was a pack of these awful… vintage clown… things? Pictures? Cut-outs? Not sure what to call them. Madness ensued…

Disturbing, right? The one second from the right is actually a puppet… We’re so weird. LOL! :)

Cubed!

While working on the cosmetic bags I’m sewing for holiday gifts this year, I ended up with scraps of fabric. I loved this Joel Dewberry fabric so much I made a smaller bag. Smaller dimensions. Result? Cube!

Weekend Projects

I have fabric for six cosmetic bags cut out and in various stages of completion. What are you up to this weekend?

Another Sewn Cosmetic Bag

Remember this cosmetic bag I made a while ago? Since that turned out okay, I thought I’d make some to give away as Christmas gifts. As I make more and more of them, the amount of time needed to create one diminishes. Still not a fast sewer, though. LOL!

Anyhow, here’s another…
