Friday Focus – Inspired By #9 (Bliss Living Duvet)

Hi all!

I think out of all my different Friday Focus videos I love the Inspired By ones the most. :) Recently I came across this duvet cover from Bliss Living and I thought it was so pretty and would make a great card!

Do you remember last week when I said I’d filmed a card and then accidentally deleted all the video footage? This is the card! I’m so glad I refilmed it because I really do love this card. :)

I used the Dahlias stamp set from Penny Black for the large flowers, and the Botanicals 2 stamp set from Paper Smooches for the foliage. By heat embossing the images in white, they stamped images resisted all the watercoloring I added on top. Super easy to paint this way, and it looks like it look ages when it really didn’t!

I used four different Distress Ink for this card: Victorian Velvet, Dusty Concord, Seedless Preserves, and Pumice Stone. The small tag is from the Tiny Tags die set from Simon, and the small greeting from the Favorite Flowers stamp set stamped in Smokey Gray Versafine ink.

Hope you like it as much as I do! :)

  1. This card is gorgeous! Just a quick question – can you watercolor like this with any stamp pads, or is there something specific about the distress inks that makes this possible? This technique is so beautiful but I would love to be able to use supplies I already have.

    Thanks!

    • Distress inks react differently with water, so I think being able to water color is unique to them.. Embossing powder resists all ink though I believe (or at least dye ink?) so you could maybe semi recreate this by sponging on the color! I don’t have many distress inks either, so I’m going to try something like this with just a watercolor palette :)

    • Yes, you can use regular dye inks. The colors might not stay as vibrant, though. Give it a try! :)

  2. Wow Kristina, this card is gorgeous. Love everything about it

Thank you for sharing your process and your incredible talent; I check your blog frequently.
