Happy Friday, all!
Because I knew that I would be adding quite a bit of water to the envelope design, I decided to not use a regular envelope (which couldn’t handle all the water) and use some thinner watercolor paper instead. I used 90 lb. watercolor paper and the Envelope Punch Board from We R Memory Keepers to create a custom 5×5 envelope to fit my card. The watercolor paper seemed to work really well as I added the Distress Inks and water.
I also used a bit of white gouache to add white onto the cat. Gouache is similar to watercolor paints in that you simply add water to get a consistency that you like. I generally use gouache for calligraphy, but it worked perfectly to paint the white areas on the cat. :)
NOTE: Distress Ink reactivates when it gets wet, so this card might not make it through the regular mail. If you make an envelope like this I would suggest either putting it into a plastic sleeve before mailing, or delivering the card and envelope in person.
Anyhow, I hope you enjoy the video! :)
