Color Inspiration #50
Here we are! The 50th Color Inspiration Challenge! Can you believe it?! Well, let’s not delay it any longer. Here are the details.
This week’s picture came from the photo shoot I had a couple months back for my friend Paula’s Etsy shop. She created this cute pincushion! She doesn’t have this one up for sale yet, but she has a couple other ones plus tons of other stuff at her Etsy shop.
In order to be considered for a “My Pick” prize or a random prize, you must create a crafty little something with the following colors: White, Red, Yellow, Turquoise, and Brown (I’m not indicating SU colors anymore because there were too many questions). ALL five colors. No omitting any. And no adding colors, either. I’m going to be super strict on this one because there are prizes involved. EDITED TO ADD: This also means no black. Only use the colors indicated.
And another difference for this challenge: ONLY ONE ENTRY PER PERSON. This is different from other Color Inspiration Challenges where you can submit however many you want because there are random prizes this time. So make sure the one you submit is your best work. If you submit more than one card/page/whatever, all of your submissions will be disqualified. I just want it to be fair for everyone. :)
Here are the prizes up for grabs, along with how it will be determined who gets what. There are two ways you can win: be one of my picks, or be randomly chosen. The prizes for my picks:
- My #1 favorite: $75 gift certificate to Twopeasinabucket.com (1 winner)
- 2 runners up: $25 gift certificates to Twopeasinabucket.com (2 winners)
There will be 10 random winners. Each person will receive one of the following items. I’ll choose at random who gets what:
- Set of 5 Banana Frog stamp sets that were designed by my friend and fellow Garden Girl, Shimelle Laine. So cute! See them here. (2 winners)
- Rubons, chipboard, paper, and also digital scrapbooking kits from Scrap Within Reach (Afternoon Tea and Industrial Park collections). These collections are beautiful! (1 winner)
- 7Gypsies Savannah alphabet stamp set (1 winner)
- Heidi Swapp Months stamp set (1 winner)
- CD with some of my current favorite songs + $10 gift certificate to Amazon.com (2 winners)
- $10 gift certificate to Sephora.com (2 winners)
- BasicGrey Wisteria 6×6 paper pad (1 winner)
Good luck!

Whoa! Nuff said….
April 25th, 2009 at 1:13 pmClarification needed. Does the five colors, no more added, mean we can not stamp in black? I will check back later for an answer. Thanks
Yes, that means no black. Only brown.
Thanks!!!!
congrats on your 50th color challenge! what a celebration and such generous prizes…
April 25th, 2009 at 1:50 pmim super excited!! I think this one is going to be harder for some only because you can’t add or take away colors!!

April 25th, 2009 at 3:25 pmKristina, thanks so much for all the time and effort you have put into these challenges every week. I was looking back at the date on the first one and I cannot believe that it was over a year ago! Holy Moly! Maybe it was all those great prizes or somethin’ but I left you a little note on my blog…
April 25th, 2009 at 3:26 pmHugs from Morocco!

The prizes are AWWWWESOME and VERY generous! Thanks for the fun and all your dedication!
I hope I can wrap my brain around something w/o disqualifying myself!! :o
April 25th, 2009 at 7:52 pmI’ll think about this over Sunday and see if I can come up with any good ideas.
Congrats, Kristina on having such a following and wonderful wonderful prizes to tempt us, and I have seen the entries so far, they are really good. You are such an inspiration, your’s is the only blog and work I’m following on a constant basis.
April 25th, 2009 at 8:33 pmTHANK YOU SO MUCH! I can’t tell you how much I have loved looking at and playing along with all your color challenges! 50 is a big accomplishment! I hope there are 50 more…..you do such a wonderful job inspiring us all, and providing a great forum for all of us who love color, and love creativity and paper crafting! This color challenge was so much fun!!!
April 25th, 2009 at 9:24 pmHey Kristina! Congrats on #50! Thanks for the color challenges, it really makes me try something new! Also check out #19 on the #50 color challenge, I think it might be spam!
April 25th, 2009 at 9:59 pmCongrats on #50!!! I didn’t participate from #1 and have missed a few others but the ones I’ve done have been fun. This is no exception.
PS: Yes, agree with Winter, #19 is definitely spam :)
April 25th, 2009 at 11:11 pmCongrats on the #50 challenge. Cant wait to look through all the entries. Thanks for all your time you spend on this challenge. I always look forward to your challengers.
April 25th, 2009 at 11:56 pm#26 “to stamp or not to stamp” brings me to an adult site. Just thought I’d let you know.
I thought the same thing, but it really is a crafty site with a card. stamPORNottostamp Is her blog name, just happens to spell porn.
Oh, you’re probably right. I deleted it without checking into it too much. I just saw the porn warning come up when I clicked on it and was all, “okay… delete!” But if the person wants to resubmit, they can.
Your challenge has helped me get my creative mojo back, Kristina. So I thank you! Congrats on your 50th and here’s to many many more challenges.
April 26th, 2009 at 12:45 amCeeCee
This was my very first Color Inspiration! It was a real challenge but totally worth it and a lot of fun.
April 26th, 2009 at 1:24 amInteresting colour combination. I needed to create a birthday card for my daughter who is turning 16 tomorrow, so why not acheive two things in one project – a challenge and a card. Thanks for the weekly inspirations Kristina I really enjoy them!
April 26th, 2009 at 6:00 amthis combo was very fun to make a card with!!!
April 26th, 2009 at 8:13 amand I’m eager to see who’ll win some of these great prizes (me! me! *lol* )
well, color inspiration is one of my favorite challenges and I try to participate whenever I can!!!
Thanks for everything!
Happy 5oth!! Ah, strict rules, just what us good Catholic girls like :) I had fun with the process. Thanks for keeping the Inspirations going… have a fabulous week :)
April 26th, 2009 at 10:08 amThis is my first time doing one of your challenges. I am enjoying your blog. I have a questions: can I use a clear rhinestone on my card? There is no color it it, just an embellishment. I will revise my card if no. Thanks so much.
Yes, clear anything is not a problem. You just can’t add any new colors, but clear isn’t a color so you’re okay.
Hi, Kristina!
April 26th, 2009 at 11:31 amContratulations for the #50 for this challenge! This is a great achievement!
I love this challenge (in spite of, I could not participate in many of them) :S
The selected colors for this one are amazing! Love them!
Thanks for this challenge! Thanks for this opportunity! And, for the prizes (hmmm… would be me the chosen one?! lol)
Regards from Brasil!
Thanks for the challenge, Kristina! Great colors! And thank you for your generosity on the prizes too. You are such an inspiration to everyone and just visiting your website is such a treat. I can’t wait to see what your top choices are this week – there are so many entries, I don’t know how you make it through them all! :)
April 26th, 2009 at 3:41 pmJust thought I’d say “Happy 50th!”. Can’t believe it. It’s been a fun year & I just wanted to say how much we appreciate all the effort you put it to this site. You’re awesome kiddo!

April 26th, 2009 at 9:37 pmThanks for 50 wonderful inspirations! Really love looking every week!
April 27th, 2009 at 12:44 amRegards,
Ilonka
Hey Kristina, big CONGRATS on the 50th!!! You are too sweet for giving away such an awesome booty- we should be throwing cool stuff at you for all your hard work you do for our viewing/stamping/inspirational pleasure! Thanks for an awesome spot to get some much needed kick in the butt mojo!! Again Congrats & THANKS!
April 27th, 2009 at 1:52 amooohh will definitely have to pay close attention when I’m doing this one. I do have a quick question. You said you weren’t specifying SU colors any more. Does that mean we can interpret them however we want? For example can I use Real Red, Ruby Red or Riding Hood Red just so long as I use a red of some sort? Thanks so much!
April 27th, 2009 at 5:05 amThanks so much for continuing to do these. I look forward to them every week!! Happy 50th!! :)
April 27th, 2009 at 5:20 amWow, 50 already, congrats! This is my first time participating, but I always look at everyones cards! Thanks for continuing to inspire us, I love your blog!
April 27th, 2009 at 7:39 amSuch a great color combo this week— loved the end result. Thanks for the inspiration!
April 27th, 2009 at 8:00 amThanks for 50 inspirations – I thought that I would have a go as the challenge reaches this milestone. I panicked when I first saw the colours, but once I got to it I had alot of fun. I love your blog, it really cheers me up when I need it. Big hug to you Kristina!
April 27th, 2009 at 9:13 amYay! Happy 50th! I still have yet to try one of these, but with school and all, it’s hard to find the time.
However, I wanted to say, I’m so sad you’re taking the SU colors away. While I completely understand your reasoning, I totally use these CI combos to help me with projects because I’m somewhat color blind when it comes to putting things together. I just click on your CIC link and pick a variation from there. Is there anyway you can still type it out for some of us that use mostly SU colors? Please!!!! Please please! :)
Besides chocolate chip and whisper white from this challenge, I have no idea what the other colors are. Ruby Red, Summer Sun & ?? lol, I’m sure you’re laughing if I’m waaaay off. lol.
April 27th, 2009 at 10:25 amThe Color Inspiration #50 is special so I decided to participate for the first time.
Happy #50!
Big hug from Spain!
April 27th, 2009 at 11:06 amPleeeeease don’t stop with the color names!? I have learned, and continue to learn about color combos from your challenges and would just be so disappointed to see them go.
April 27th, 2009 at 1:30 pmI understand if it’s too much for you, but will miss it.
Keep up the good work, you are such an inspiration!!
Thank you for all you do!!
Carol
Congrats on number 50!!!
April 27th, 2009 at 2:20 pmI have to say these colors intimidated me! Had to make us work for it eh? LOL!
hey, that was a first for me too. very fun. I will be back~!
April 27th, 2009 at 3:19 pmOk, so I’ve been lurking for awhile, but finally took the plunge for your 50th!
April 27th, 2009 at 3:28 pmNeat colour combo, always good to try something new.
I made a card with all of this weeks challenge color’s in it for our Latenight stampers blog tour that is going on today. My card features the Many mowers stamp set and is the first card sample in the post.

April 27th, 2009 at 5:48 pmThis is my first color inspiration challenge.
April 27th, 2009 at 7:19 pmI have finally had time to amke a card, and when I saw this week’s colors, i knew it would be perfect for my friend’s birthday card.
Hope the link works.
This is my first card challenge ever! I just found out about this blog and twopeasinabucket.com!
I hope I have met everyone’s standards! Can’t wait to hear what everyone has to say!
April 27th, 2009 at 9:01 pmI stumbled across your site by accident and was thoroughly intrigued by the idea of working on this. I had a great time with this project because the palette is so different (yes, I actually had to BUY paper for it) from my usual choices. I do love using brown instead of black though… I like the softness that browns lend to skin tones. Thank you for the inspiration.
April 27th, 2009 at 11:32 pmWow! Those are some awesome prices!
April 28th, 2009 at 12:08 amThis is the first time I’m participating. I’ve been a long time lurker. I started making cards because of your videos I discovered on You Tube, so thanks a whole lot! I’m so glad I finally got to participate.

April 28th, 2009 at 4:55 pmHi Kristina, Great contest, but I have a question…I know you said we could only use those five colors (brown, red, yellow, turquoise, and white), no more no less, but I was wondering if jem stones (like the normal diamondish kind) counted as a different color besides those five. Thanks!
Sounds like your question is similar to this one: http://www.kwernerdesign.com/blog/?p=1333&cpage=1#comment-23927
I answered it there. Hope that helps! :)
Kristina,
April 28th, 2009 at 9:14 pmI posted earlier today, was # 173, my server was down all evening, but people had been coming to my card from your site. When I came back to check my link was gone. Did you take it off or was it just a malfunction? The link was the correct one, when I came back it just had my basic URL on mr.linky. I am sure because I always check. It has been a weird day.

May 1st, 2009 at 10:57 pmHey Kristina,
I had posted a link to my CC project and decided to delete it for different reasons. I deleted my post on my blog but I see my name is still in the list of entries, where it says my name and I think I was listed #277, so if anyone clicks on that link it will not work. Also, if I can, would it be ok for me to re-post an updated project? I was having some issues with whether I liked my first entry and also someone told me that I could do better and it made me think maybe it wasn’t so great and I wanted to cry.. So I hope that I can get something done before the deadline.. Thanks!
Yes, that’s fine. In fact, it looks like you saw that I deleted the first link and you posted a new one. :)
It´s your 50th colour inspiration and my first time trying it.
Like it very much.
Sabine
