Mixing Custom Colors for Watercolor Painting – Video 1

Are you ready for more color mixing? In today’s video I focused on the color mixing aspect of painting a stamped pattern background using watercolor paints. Once again, I used an inexpensive $3 watercolor set.

I stamped the floral image from Avery Elle’s Mother’s Day stamp set repeatedly all over a sheet of pre-cut 5×7 Strathmore watercolor paper. Because I needed the stamped images to be waterproof, I used Versafine Onyx Black ink.

To prevent warping as I add lots of water to the paper, I taped the stamped watercolor paper to a hardboard and then started painting. Be sure to watch the video to see each step of the color mixing process. I made sure to have a second camera focused on the watercolor palette so that you could see all the colors as I mixed them.

I’ll be back on Friday with another card video filmed this way (emphasizing the color mixing).

Thanks for stopping by today! :)
