One Stamp Set, One Card – Neat & Tangled 5th Birthday Blog Hop

Happy Friday, all! Today I am taking part in a week-long blog hop celebrating Neat & Tangled’s 5th birthday! The latest Neat & Tangled release includes this cute handwritten Hooray stamp set. I thought it would be fun to challenge myself to use only the small stamp set, plus inks, to create a card. :)

First I planned out my card, so I knew I wanted to have a colorful strip of inked cardstock along one edge. I used six Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks to blend a rainbow the edge of some Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock: Candied Apple, Spiced Marmalade, Fossilized Amber, Peeled Paint, Broken China, and Wilted Violet. I cut a narrow strip and set it aside.

For the main area of the card, I stamped the large “Hooray” in Versafine Onyx Black ink using a MISTI stamp positioning tool. I then stamped the smaller greeting from the stamp set, “It’s your day!” in the same Distress Oxide ink colors, repeating the stamped image vertically.

To finish off the card, I used some of Neat & Tangled’s Like Magic sequins.

Hope you enjoy the video!

I love calligraphy! I’ve loved it ever since I learned it in my high school art class and did lousy at it. I was good at art and I took 4 years of it but I couldn’t get calligraphy. My sister on the other hand didn’t have art in high school and she was so good at calligraphy! She used to make stuff and sell it but I don’t remember what right now because it was so long ago. Every time I see that Hooray though I think the R is a K. It reminds me of that and I am probably the only one who sees that. Okay, it’s just me.
Now to talk about your card, which I love by the way. You used my favorite color which is yellow and you made it colorful just like me. How did you know I would really like this card? LOL I love how you stacked the words on the card and it’s something I want to try. It’s something I wouldn’t have thought of. Thanks for showing us your colorful card and for giving us the chance to win something.

Love the repeat design. I never think of doing that and it’s so cool.

  • Reply Stephanie M August 13, 2017 at 4:40 pm

I like the repeated stamping technique. And the big Hooray!

As an aside – I saw how you’re keeping the blender sponges attached to the back of the Oxide ink pad with blue painters tape. I’ve been struggling with how to store them without the ink getting messy. Good idea !
