How to Paint Freehand Watercolor Flowers & Banner

Happy Saturday, all! I normally don’t post on Saturdays, but today is a special day! Today I am taking part in a blog hop for my friend Kathy Racoosin’s 30 Day Coloring Challenge! The Daily Marker 30 Day Coloring Challenge is all about challenging yourself to do a bit of coloring each day–whether that’s 5 minutes of coloring, or even something more involved. For me, I’m challenging myself to watercolor something each day.

NOTE: You can share your coloring on Instagram using the hashtag #thedailymarker30day. Also, check out others’ work using the hashtag. There is a ton of inspiration!

In today’s video, I wanted to try out creating some freehand watercolor flowers and a banner. I honestly didn’t know where this small piece was heading when I started recording on my camera, and I’m very pleased with my final results.

Before I started painting, I stamped the “hello there” greeting from The Greeting Farm’s Kitty Stacks stamp set (which is super cute and I’ll have to create a card with the actual kitty images soon). I stamped it in a waterproof black ink so that I could paint over the top without any issue.

I used the Tropicals watercolor set from Prima for my painting. I love the colors in this set and the red, pink, and purple seemed like a good combination for my flowers. I also added a tiny bit of light gold pearlescent paint from the Gansai Tambi Starry Colors palette as well.

Like I mentioned above, today’s post is part of a blog hop! There is lots more inspiration for you to check out today. So get hopping! Your next stop is my good friend Heather Ruwe!
