Finally Friday - Smile

For this week’s Finally Friday card I needed something quick and easy and I also wanted to use another digital die cut kit. Jen Allyson’s Cut-Out Card was perfect! Not only was it easy to use, but after it was cut, it only took 6 minutes to put together. Sweet! I also use some patterned paper from Sassafras’ Monstrosity 6×6 pad and another Ali Edwards Technique Tuesday stamp set, Favorite Memories.

THIS WEEK’S CHALLENGE: Make a card with a window. I used a digital cutter to create mine, but you could try using a punch or a circle cutter–anything to create a "hole" in the front of your card. When you card is finished, upload a picture of it to the TwoPeas gallery and select this week’s FF video when you do. Then your card will appear at the bottom of the FF video page. :)

Enjoy the video below, or over at YouTube. Thanks for watching!

So what is so good about Versa Mark Ink?

Kristina Werner September 18, 2009 at 9:04 am

It’s particularly good for embossing because it takes a bit longer to dry and stays sticky long enough to apply the embossing powder. That’s mainly what I use it for. :)

Sonal September 18, 2009 at 8:42 am

How cute and easy is that now…

How often should the versa mark ink be changed.

Kristina Werner September 18, 2009 at 9:05 am

I just use mine until it starts to dry out. I’ve been using the same pad for quite a long time now. But then again, I don’t use it every day. Hope that helps! :)

It’s really cute Kristina. I love how you combine kraft, brown and bright colors.

I really like this card – and it’s something that’s doable for me!

I meant to ask you about your corner punch, but don’t know if I did or not – I can’t find it on Comments on your previous posts. Anyway, I would like to know the name of the punch, and some info about where it can be purchased.
Thanks so much.

I use the We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper. :) TwoPeas sells it, but unfortunately it’s sold out at the moment. Here’s a link to it in the TwoPeas store:

This is so cute! I’d really like to do the digital die cut kit; but I don’t have a digital cutter…cricut or silhouette etc. Can I still purchase the kit and use it?

Dori September 18, 2009 at 9:37 am

oops…one more thing. If you purchase the digi kit, is it a “one time” only use or can you use the file multiple times?
Thanks!

Hi – LOVE your cards! I always look forward to Mondays and Fridays so I can watch your video! You are truly amazing. I’m new to digital files (have NO idea how to use them!) and was wondering if you could show a video on how to use the digital file and the Cricut? (or maybe you already have done this?) The cut out card is amazing!!

Diana September 18, 2009 at 12:08 pm

love the card. I can’t hardly wait till the next one comes out. You do great work.

Stephanie September 18, 2009 at 12:29 pm

Hi Kristina! LOVE your work, I’m a devoted follower!! :) I have a question regarding the digital die cut you used. I know, per your video, that it was cut on your Cricut, and I’m wondering how you go about getting that to work in conjunction with your Cricut. I have one (Cricut Personal Cutter) and I am teetering on the fence about getting the Design Studio for it. If I can use other “companies” die cuts with my Cricut DS , I’m SOLD!!! Thanks in advance for your help!!

Kristina Werner September 19, 2009 at 5:58 pm

You have to use a different software program called Sure Cuts A Lot. I’ll be uploading a video on it in the next day or so, so watch for it. :)

I love the simplicity of this card. I really admire card makers who can use the mimium and make such wonderful cards. It takes a real eye for color and a real talent for creating. thanks for sharing!
Hugs from a fellow stamping addict for sharing your talent as you do.

Angie (your Utah neighbor) September 18, 2009 at 10:20 pm

Hi there. When I saw the Warehouse Walk over at 2 Peas with Mellypea, I fell in love with the Monstrosity paper! But then again, it’s from Sassafras, so why wouldn’t I love it? Great card today!! Is this digital cut from the same Jen who used to be your roommate? I love her! Anyhoo…another darling card. Thanks for sharing with us, and have a fabulous weekend.
Angie

Kristina Werner September 19, 2009 at 6:00 pm

Thanks! Nope, it’s a different Jen. She’s a designer for TwoPeas. :)

Catherine Evans September 19, 2009 at 4:18 am

Hi love the card. Thought I would have a go so went over to Two peas and bought the cut files. But I am having problems because to cut file cuts the middle insert in half ( the brown bit you stamped smile on) What am I doing wrong? Hoping you can help. Thanks

Kristina Werner September 19, 2009 at 6:01 pm

I had the same problem, but fixed it in Ilustrator. I’ll email the creator and see if she can update the files. I think once it’s updated, you’ll be able to re-download the kit. :)

Catherine Evans September 20, 2009 at 2:48 am

Thanks for your help.

sharon September 19, 2009 at 2:13 pm

This is so super cute!!! I am definately one of your biggest fans!!! You mentioned using your cricut on this one and a digital kit. I have a question if you purchase the digital kit can you cut it out with the cricut? That would really be awesome. Wished you were my next door neighbor!!! LOL

Kristina Werner September 19, 2009 at 6:03 pm

Yes, you can use the files with your Cricut by using the software program Sure Cuts a Lot. I’ll be sharing a video on in soon. :)

Mel September 19, 2009 at 3:08 pm

Theresa September 23, 2009 at 5:45 am

Hello. Love this card tutorial. I was wondering where do you purchase your ribbons?

Kristina Werner September 23, 2009 at 10:19 am

The ribbon on this card is from Stampin’ Up! I bought it from a demonstrator (locate one at stampinup.com).
