Finally Friday - Happy Holidays

Hi all!

We’re taking a break from the Halloween cards and skipping ahead a couple holidays to Christmas! You can see the card and all the supplies used by clicking here. :)

I love making holiday cards, so I couldn’t resist this Snowflake Circle stamp from Hero Arts. This stamp in particular is one of Hero’s new Clings stamps. That means it has the traditional red rubber, but instead of being permanently stuck to a wood block, it has cling material on the back so that it can be temporarily mounted to an acrylic block. It’s a great space saver, but also retains the quality stamped image of a traditional wood block stamp. :)

I also decided to make a circle card. I haven’t made one of these in a while, and they’re probably one of my favorites because it’s such a different shape for a card. :) I used my Card Shapes Designer Cuts kit to cut the card base with a Cricut Expression cutting machine. For more info on using SVG files and other digital die cut files in the Two Peas store with your Cricut machine, watch this video at YouTube.

Anyhow, thanks for watching! And be sure to join us for the FF challenge this week.

CHALLENGE: Create either a circle card, or a holiday card. Your choice! Upload it to the TwoPeas gallery and select this Finally Friday video when you do, and your card will appear at the bottom of the page.

NOTE: The paper in the background of the photo is some patterned paper by My Mind’s Eye.

Again, you inspire me with your design and creativity Kristina. Thank you.

Kristina, I always have this problem when using white embossing powder, it never blend together nicely and it tends to sticks everywhere else outside the stamped image. Does that mean my powder is in a bad quality?

Kristina Werner October 16, 2009 at 11:02 am

No necessarily–at least for sticking outside the stamped image part. That problem sounds like a static cling issue. Try wiping a fabric dryer sheet over your paper before you stamp on it. That might might cut down on the static. However, if your embossing powder isn’t melting correctly, you might get a different embossing powder. Hope that helps! :)

Thank you for the tip! Your card is pretty as always.

Judy October 16, 2009 at 10:37 am

Holy Crow!!! that is adorable!!!

You’ve switched embossing powders??? How come?

Kristina Werner October 16, 2009 at 11:03 am

I’ve been using AC embossing powders for a while now. :) No reason. Just easier to buy since I order from TwoPeas more often than I order from SU.

Hi there!! Cute card, as always. Do you still use your Coluzzle for any circle cards anymore, or do you just use your SVG files?

I know it’s somewhere, but do you have a link for Jen’s digital card designs that you used once before. I’d like to have yours and hers. They are both sooo awesome! Thanks for the tip about embossing on vellum. I struggle with that. Have a great autumn weekend here in the valley!!

Sorry, it just me again. I found it at 2 Peas. I still want to know about your Coluzzle though.
Have a fabulous day,
Angie

Kristina Werner October 16, 2009 at 1:10 pm

I still use my Coluzzle, but not as much for cards as just for circles. :)

Sharon October 16, 2009 at 12:59 pm

Kristina,

You always amaze me. I love this card, and love your digital card kit.

Where can I find how to cut your digital card shape file with my cricut? I’m sure it is here somewhere, but I can’t seem to find it.

Thanks.
Sharon

Donna October 16, 2009 at 7:00 pm

Really cute card! Any ideas for cutting out the card if I don’t own a Cricut or a Coluzzle? I just own a Cuttlebug and some Nestabilities. Can I use a circle Nestability? Thanks.

Kristie October 16, 2009 at 7:04 pm

I just love this card. I don’t have design studio or SCAL, so am woking on figureing out how to do it with out them. Not sure there is a way though. Oh well will have to figure something else. Maybe just do it square.

What a beautiful card. This is a great inspiriation for wedding or birthday cards…and lots of Christmas cards, of course.

Ilze October 18, 2009 at 1:43 am

Thank you for one more wonderful card. I love your cards and they are a wonderful inspiration to me. Watching your videos I have learnt to make greeting cards. I also have some questions for you. First, what kind of glue do you use to adhere vellum. It is always a big problem for me but I really love vellum. And second, what kind of envelopes do you use for circle cards?

Kristina Werner October 18, 2009 at 8:16 pm

I just use whatever adhesive I have on hand. Most of the time when I use vellum, wherever I place the adhesive won’t be shown. And I use regular envelopes. Most of my circle cards will fit in standard envelopes.

Sonal October 18, 2009 at 8:26 am

What a beautiful card.
