MACM – Thanks (Autumn Card)

Good morning, all!
For this week’s card, I really wanted to use a stamp set that I bought a while ago and have been waiting for the perfect moment to use. Stampin’ Up!’s Falling Leaves stamp set is so cute! I just love all the little leaves! I’d been reserving it for a thanksgiving type card, whatever that might be. :)
Anyway, in addition to the stamp set, I used some of Quickutz’ 4×12 adhesive cork sheets to diecut the letters for the sentiment. I used Stampin’ Up!’s Timeless Type Jr. for the letters and originally was concerned with them. Because the dies are Sizzlets and are chemically etched dies, they usually can’t cut thicker materials (steel rule dies are better for that sort of thing). However, the Sizzlets did just fine with the thinner cork. I was totally surprised and delighted they worked!
So, enjoy the video! :) Oh, and my “secret” project that I’ve been working on is getting closer and closer to completion. In fact, I’ve decided to move up the reveal date from November 16th to next Monday, the 2nd! I can’t wait for ya’ll see what I’ve got cookin’. :)

Love the leaves!! I may just have to try that with some of my new Christmas themed stamps–little presents, stockings, snowflakes. Thanks for the inspiration as always!

October 26th, 2009 at 9:18 amI love this card, Kristina! Will definitely be “borrowing” this idea!
October 26th, 2009 at 9:29 amwhat a cute card . . . would whatever you write on the inside show through to the front though, since it’s velum cardstock? just wondering.
have a great week!
It would show through a little bit, but I think that would be kind of cool. :) Especially since you’d write a thank you message and that’s what would show through. Makes it more personal. :)
what a great card i bought some white dotted vellum had no idea how to use it .
thanks for the another awesome idea.
October 26th, 2009 at 10:02 amSO cute! I was just looking at that cork paper the other day and ended up with the metallic paper – Guess I’ll have to go back to the store!
October 26th, 2009 at 10:04 amI love this card!! The colors are so great together…
October 26th, 2009 at 10:09 amI love the card…. cookin’ up? Is that a hint? Like something to do with recipes or recipe cards? Hmmmm….
October 26th, 2009 at 11:05 amThose cork letters are awesome! Check out my blog for a super-fun-get-ready-for-Christmas-baking giveaway!

October 26th, 2009 at 11:16 amsuper cute!!
October 26th, 2009 at 11:17 amSo darling! {heart} it!
So I know last time you were asking about purchasing more Kraft Cardstock! Where did you end up buying it?
Yaneri
Actually, I was asking about Hero Arts’ long kraft notecards. :) And one of the commenters found them at the Hero Art site, so no worries! They still sell them. :) As for my usual Kraft cardstock, I order it from Stampin’ Up! because you can buy it in packs of 40 sheets… which will last me, oh I don’t know, 3 days. ;)
Great card!! I love the colors. We need to scrap again, soon.
October 26th, 2009 at 11:27 amVery cute card. From the picture I thought the letters were orange glitter.
October 26th, 2009 at 12:09 pmI always enjoy your cards. So simple yet so beautiful.
October 26th, 2009 at 12:51 pmWhat a cute card! What kind of white pen do you use? It seems so good.
October 26th, 2009 at 1:01 pmI did too, but when I looked very closely, I could see the cork detail. Kristina, this card is a great idea with the vellum. Love that!! I’m dying trying to figure out what you’re up to. I can’t wait for the big “reveal!”
October 26th, 2009 at 1:15 pmThanks for the great card and have a wonderful Monday. :)
great use on the cork!! :)
October 26th, 2009 at 1:56 pmAnother great idea. I’m going to have to buy some vellum NOW!! I made a couple of card sketch books and gave one to a friend. Another friend was really impressed with “my stitching”. I did give you the credit. Thank you so much for all the inspiration. I would never have done it on my own.
October 26th, 2009 at 2:21 pmreally cute, is that a special vellum, I’m not used to it being so rigid
October 26th, 2009 at 2:25 pmLove this- especially the look of the vellum front.
October 26th, 2009 at 3:03 pmI love this card! I have had no success with cutting anything thicker than card stock with my Sizzlits.
I was worried about the thickness of the cork, too. However, I think since it’s a pretty soft and squishy material it was able to cut through. :)
I love this card and how you used the vellum and the cork. Thank you!!
October 26th, 2009 at 4:01 pmSuch a cute idea!! Thanks!
October 26th, 2009 at 4:30 pmGreat card! What do you do if you want to write something on the inside and you dont want it to show through the vellum?
You could just add a folded piece of white paper inside–like a liner of some sort. :)
What was the adhesive you used? ThermoWeb? I don’t think I’ve ever seen that before!
October 26th, 2009 at 6:00 pmvery cute. love the cork letters and the stamped leaves!
October 26th, 2009 at 6:14 pmI really really love your cards and videos… they are my inspiration for all I do…I wait for Tuesdays and Saturdays for me (Australia) and I enjoy them so much.. I just wish we can have all the goodies you can buy over there. Anyway I love everything you do …Thanks for sharing with others…

I wish she would be able to do a Wednesday crazy video or something like that.. but I know she works and with 2 is enough.. but maybe for the surprise she is gonna give us on Monday !!!
Thank you for your beautiful creations. You inspire me to become a better cardmaker. When I’m in a rut, I just ask myself, What Would Kristina Do. WWKD. Thanks for the continued inspiration, I love every card you post.

October 27th, 2009 at 7:41 amKristina
This is so cute, and I am glad to see a stamp set I already have (and love)!
When you erase your pencil marks, do you erase right over the gel pen marks? If so, does it affect the gel pen at all?
Thanks!!!
Thanks! No, it doesn’t effect the white pen as long as it’s dry. :)
Love this card & all your work! So excited for the reveal of your “secret project.” I’m keeping my fingers crossed its your own line/brand of stamps, papers or some other type of product :)
October 27th, 2009 at 4:51 pmLove the card, Kristina. I have that stamp set AND the die cut… so excited to CASE your idea.
October 27th, 2009 at 5:51 pmI’m looking forward to your next great idea.
I love your usage of chip board letters and thickers but I’m a nursing student and on a REALLY tight budget. Like, squeaky tight. Unfortunately I can’t keep my eyes off your site and its always sending my card making needs sky high! Do you have any suggestions on how to make your own thickers or chip board letters? Thanks!
If you have a die cut machine, you could use those foam sheets that they sell in craft stores to make Thicker-like letters. But then, if you can afford a die cut machine, you can probably afford Thickers. Another ideas… grab a 40% off coupon and find an AC Moore… much more affordable. The store near me -in NY- sells some Thickers.
nobody guessed at your new project yet?
I think you might have redesigned your blog/website? or built a new one?
October 27th, 2009 at 9:08 pmdoes it have to do with the Cricut?? :)
October 27th, 2009 at 9:17 pmGorgeous!!! LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT! I am such a fan of your MACM and Finally Friday videos… oh heck, any video you do just tickles me pink! LOL Thank you for sharing so much.
October 27th, 2009 at 9:42 pmI just saw your BubbleTweet with your first clue. It took you 44 hours to complete…hum…
Any of the large paper crafting companies would be lucky to get you to design a line of products for them. I think you could be creating your own line of stamps, but I would think that would take a lot more than 44 hours. I’m stumped. I’ll wait to get more clues.
Whatever it is, I’m excited for you. You’re the best!
October 27th, 2009 at 10:35 pmOh, my! A clue!!! I have no idea, but I can NOT wait until Monday.
44 hours!? That is a lot, and still you make the sweetest cards and share with the rest of us. Wow!
October 28th, 2009 at 6:01 amUmm…You are in Marketing, so maybe you are putting together a website for client displaying your graphic talents. And it’s going live next week for the world to see.
October 28th, 2009 at 6:03 amdoes twopeas sell the cardstock vellum?
thanks :)
I don’t think so. I buy mine from Stampin’ Up. :)
Thank you for one more inspiration. I love to watch your movies when I’m crafting, even if I’m not making the same thing, give me ideias! Keep up your wonderful work!
