Day 8 – Holiday Card Series – Happy Holidays

Morning, all! We’re at day 8–can you believe it! Practically 1/3 through the entire series. :)
Today’s card uses masking, misting, and embossing. And used on such a large card, those small things create big impact. I used 7Gypsies’ Savannah alpha stamp set, which I think is my most favorite large alphabet for stamps, and Maya Road’s Maya Mist in Brown and their Snowflakes stamp set.
Anyhow, enjoy!
NOTE: I’ve received a LOT of questions about the music included in the videos. It is a 10-second clip of royalty-free music I purchased online. It’s not a real song from an album. :)

Love when you do the masking, it always turns out so neat. Adding that one colored button just made the card. Thanks so much for the gift of these cards each day, it’s so appreciated!!
November 11th, 2009 at 7:40 amLove this one Kristina! Your embossing always looks so clean and crisp. I have real troubles when it comes to embossing but you make it look so easy. This looks so cool, I think I’m going to have to keep trying until I get it right. Thanks again for the videos. I am enjoying every one of them!
November 11th, 2009 at 7:43 amI really like the colors in this card! I am so going to have to try embossing one day. ;)
November 11th, 2009 at 7:48 amWas it Pavlov’s dogs that started to salivate whenever he rang a bell? I am getting that feeling at about 2.30pm UK time as I know there’s another fabulous card on the way!!!
November 11th, 2009 at 7:54 amGreat card, love those fonts – must be the serifs I think. That teeny little red button on the snowflake is a fabby finishing touch, thanks for another wonderful card, Jo x
It looks so easy from you! Good Job!
November 11th, 2009 at 7:55 amI love this card. So simple and beautiful.
November 11th, 2009 at 8:23 amI just love the card… I am heading to my craft room to make this one! I am changing it to be MERRY Christmas…. but love the ideas that this card gave… like saying “HAPPY birthday” etc….. thanks!!!
AND I love the little jingle music! I checked it out at the site you mentioned, I just had no idea that this was out there! Super cool!
Thanks
November 11th, 2009 at 8:24 amTime sure flies by! Wonderful card!
November 11th, 2009 at 8:34 amSo nice!
November 11th, 2009 at 8:40 amI had no idea the versamark stayed wet that long, I’ve always embossed one letter at a time.
Love your trademark white stitching. Great card.
November 11th, 2009 at 8:59 amEveline.
Love this card – so clean, simple, and easy. What font did you use for the “HAPPY” sentiment? I noticed too that you use your cricut expression a lot. Do you ever use the silhouette sd?
I have an older Silhouette that I don’t use much anymore. :) I pretty much only use the Cricut.
Oh, sorry! Forgot to answer the font question. I believe it’s Rosewood Fill.
Another great card. I wasn’t sure how it was going to turn out when I saw the misting but it all came together beautifully. I was impressed with the VersaMark and how it stays wet long enough to add the embossing power. Thanks.

November 11th, 2009 at 9:19 amSuch a fantastic idea Kristina I’ve looked at the various mists on the market and never really known what to do with them . Thanks for the inspiration .Only trouble is …. Man is my Shopping wish list growing LOL !!
November 11th, 2009 at 9:31 amThis may be my favorite one so far! I feel inspired!!! It’s always fun to use a different size. It’s a challenge and a deviation from the norm. Great work!
November 11th, 2009 at 9:47 amYou’ve probably been asked this a million times, but I would like to know what the names of your adhesives are. I can’t seem to find the pop dots you use that are hectagon shaped and the roll of sticky dots that you press objects onto and peel off. Thanks!
All my usual supplies are listed in my FAQ. Click here.
What a bold and beautiful card today. I can just see it displayed among the others on the mantle, or taped to the front door, etc. Those chipboard buttons are FABULOUS! I fell in love with them the first time you used them!
November 11th, 2009 at 10:36 amThank you and have a wonderful today! :)

November 11th, 2009 at 11:44 amCute idea! What is the name of the font that you used for happy?
I believe it’s Rosewood Fill.
Another wonderful card. The button just set it off just right. Question…why do you stamp letters backwards?
Thanks for your videos!
November 11th, 2009 at 12:48 pmI wanna try this with clear embossing powder instead of white. I think the different layers of translucency would be really neat
November 11th, 2009 at 12:56 pmOH, wow! So VERY creative – awesome card!!!
November 11th, 2009 at 12:57 pmI have to get my hands on that alphabet stamp set. I love it! Great card.
November 11th, 2009 at 1:58 pmI really like this card! It makes me want to try masking! I love your holiday card series! Thanks for showering us with videos.
November 11th, 2009 at 2:29 pmHi!! I like a lot your cards! they are really simple, so could be good for a beginner, but you use so much expensive and “special” material that is really difficult to have for those who are starting with cardmaking! and you could also be helpful in “re-using” stuff in a different way, but you always have something new!
anyway this card is really beautiful! i like the alphabets you used!
The joy of this craft that you don’t have to use the same supplies and material I use. :) You can substitute it with things you own or that are available to you. It can be as expensive or inexpensive as you want it to be. Also, you have to consider that I design for an online store. :)
I really like the card and love the idea of masking great card. Thanks.
November 11th, 2009 at 2:42 pmAnother great card, I love the way the words overlap, and that button with the string really finishes it beautifully. I’m inspired to give it a go – something similar anyhow :)
November 11th, 2009 at 3:37 pmIt looks 3-D! Like it.
November 11th, 2009 at 4:22 pmGreat card and good ideas!! :)
November 11th, 2009 at 4:31 pmVery cute. Awesome card Kristina
November 11th, 2009 at 4:35 pmYou know, one of the great things about watching your video is that I get encouraged to try out techniques I would not dare imagine myself doing. Like this misting, I’ll admit I am terrified of it because I might mess up my card. But since I saw you do it, I might just give it a try :D Thanks for the inspiration, Kristina!
November 11th, 2009 at 6:25 pmI could really get use to your daily video cards. You are a very good teacher. Thank you for your time in making this series. Love it!
November 11th, 2009 at 8:08 pmKristina, I agree with Diana. I am getting hook on cards videos. Thanks very much for all you do.
November 11th, 2009 at 9:44 pmPutting the card inside of a box when you use mist is such a good idea! The last time I tried using glimmer mist I got stains everywhere.
November 11th, 2009 at 10:01 pmi love this card!!
November 12th, 2009 at 1:40 amvery nice!!

November 12th, 2009 at 4:02 amGreat card…..!
November 12th, 2009 at 6:27 amKristina–love those fonts too–and this card rocks-the the simplicity of the bold fonts! whoowee! fabulous! Is the mist a bit sparkly? so fun when you use that :)
November 12th, 2009 at 6:29 amKristina, I really am enjoying your card series. Thank you for all of your inspiration.
November 12th, 2009 at 6:40 amVery cool! I really liked this technique!
November 13th, 2009 at 9:19 pmYou make everything look so simple. When I use mist – what a blobby mess I get. I’m always hesitant to try embossing and you make it look so easy. I really appreciate all you “show and tell” us. Love this card!
