Holiday Card Series - Day 10

NOTE: There is also a Finally Friday video today. Check it out!

Good morning, all!

For today’s card, I finally had the chance to break out a stamp set I bought last April! It’s from Sassafras’ 2008 Christmas collection, Life at Pole. Sadly, I didn’t know about this collection until after Christmas. Tragic! So I used some supplies that, unfortunately, might not as as readily available anymore. But they’re too stinkin’ cute not to use! LOL! :)

Anyhow, enjoy!

NOTE: I’ve received a LOT of questions about the music included in the videos. It is a 10-second clip of royalty-free music I purchased online. It’s not a real song from an album. :)

Watch video below | Watch at YouTube

Joy – Stampin’ Up! cardstock in Kraft and Whisper White; Sassafras Life at the Pole stamp set; Sassafras Life at the Pole collection kit; Colorbox chalk inks in Chesnut Roan and Lime Pastel.

I am totally loving all your Christmas cards, so adorable!! But I am wondering, how am I ever going to be able to go back to just 2 videos a week after this?!?! I love watching you create your cards! You are so inspiring. Thank you for sharing with us.

super cute!

Leslie November 13, 2009 at 8:42 am

Awe. I love the movie Elf =) I have a question for ya. I noticed when the gingerbread man was back on your stamp sheet, it was tinted brown(unless you didn’t clean it yet). I have had that trouble with some stamps before. It hasn’t ruined them, but what i was wanting to know is which inks have you had trouble with and will it eventually ruin the stamp? I clean my stamps ASAP after use and they sometimes still get tinted. Thanks a bunch. =)

Kristina Werner November 13, 2009 at 12:55 pm

Staining photopolymer stamps is nearly unavoidable. Fortunately, I’ve had stamps for years that are stained that still stamp nice, sharp images. :)

Lisa Sturgill November 16, 2009 at 2:52 pm

I find Chestnut roan, which is my favorite as well stains the stamps quite nicely…LOL! But I agree, they still stamp beautifully. I find that the chalk inks work best with the acrylic stamps, I can’t seem to get a crisp image with the SU inks.

I have to say this is my FAV card so far, the gingerbread man is sooo cute, and love the paper line. I have been searching around to see if it’s available as a kit, but no luck so far. 2peas only has a few pcs available. Anyone see it, please email me! : )

Thanks so much for all these great cards! I really like how different they are, not your everyday stamped cards.

Eveline van Heijst November 13, 2009 at 8:42 am

Super cute gingerbread man. Love the card.
Eveline.

Adam November 13, 2009 at 9:38 am

I totally said “That bar code is going to make this card a hot mess!” and then you went and covered it up. Awesome.

Danell November 13, 2009 at 9:54 am

Love this card and Love the movie Elf!! We watch Elf every Thanksgiving night to kick off Christmas. I had to hunt down the Life at the pole items and was lucky enough to find some. Can’t wait to make a card with my finds!! Thanks so much for ALL your great creations!!

Angie (your Utah neighbor) November 13, 2009 at 10:05 am

I still remember when you ordered this stamp set and you got so excited!! Darling card. Gotta tell ya, thinking that this series is 1/2 over is a downer. YOU are “absolutely fabulous.” ;)
Thank you!

Donna English November 13, 2009 at 10:12 am

Anya November 13, 2009 at 10:44 am

Gotta tell ya My little fella was watching your video with me and went NUTS when he saw your Gingerbread man “Mommy, Mommy SHREK !!!” … Guess what movie I have playing in the background now… LOL !! Have a great weekend. Thanks for sharing … so cute !

taranicole November 13, 2009 at 11:22 am

Hurray! What an adorable card! I love it … I have been watching your videos for a few months now and just love EVERYTHING you do! I was so surprized at the simple idea of stamping on another piece of paper and attaching it to your card with popdots! I have ruined more projects with something stamping incorrectly on my actual project. My perfectionism can once again reign while paper crafting!

Helena November 13, 2009 at 11:51 am

Where did your fingernails go? heehee
Anyways, cute card…looking forward to the next one!

Kristina Werner November 13, 2009 at 1:32 pm

LOL! Sharing two videos that were filmed two months apart. :)

Delphine November 13, 2009 at 12:20 pm

BRAVO!!! Your cards are very wonderfull and you do a great job for this christmas cards I hope you understand my english!!! bye!

Anna November 13, 2009 at 1:14 pm

Kristina,

This card is super cute!
Can I ask why, when you were looking for a red ink for the candy cane, you didn’t consider Stampin’ Up! ’s Real Red or Riding Hood Red? Does it look “off” if you use the SU! ink on the same card with chalk ink?
Thanks! I am loving seeing a video everyday!

Kristina Werner November 13, 2009 at 1:32 pm

I didn’t have my SU ink pads handy. That’s all. :)

Helen November 13, 2009 at 1:20 pm

Oh Kristina, I love the way you talk to yourself..us..but you’re alone….you know what I mean. Seriously, letting us see the creative process of the card unfold. I especially love it cause I’ve been working like a crazy person since September and barely make it to the craft room and I’m finding myself so unable to create when I do get there :(
Thanks for letting the light in :)

Jenny November 13, 2009 at 5:41 pm

I am really enjoying all your videos. I was happy to get them twice a week but now I don’t know what to do with myself. I am not a big card maker but I just can’t stop looking at your videos because you are so talented. You are original and unique. I always think of you whenever I am making a video. What would Kristina do I ask myself. Keep doing your thing girl!

Kristina,
I just finished a little mini-marathon of videos!! I was a little behind this week on my video-viewing. WHAT FUN!!! I can’t wait to try some of the techniques. You are really spoiling us…. January will be VERY lonely without a new video every weekday. Thank you, thank you, thank you…. you are such a creative inspiration!!

Patty November 15, 2009 at 2:34 am

could you do some sort of a gift bag? like a little bag you can give to someone with a small gift inside?

thank you

rebecca.k November 15, 2009 at 9:54 pm

I try to keep like items in baskets and bins. I like to have things neat before I start a project, so I try to be organized before I lose my ‘mojo’.

Sandra Wesselingh November 16, 2009 at 8:08 am

Great card!! Love the gingerbread guy. My son said i have to but that stamp LOL!!
Thanx for the inspiration.
Hugs Sandra
