A Year in Cards – November 2009
Hi all!
It’s the 15th of the month which means there’s a new A Year in Cards class up at TwoPeas. For November’s class, we’re making holiday cards! In my PDF instructions (which you can download here), I also include some tips and tricks for creating quick, easy, and less expensive holiday cards. If you’ll be making multiples of the same card, you’ll want to check out this class. :)
I used some super cute holiday supplies for these cards. I finally broke out some Martha snowflake stickers that I’ve been hoarding, and also a couple $5 stamp sets from Bella Blvd, December Details 1 and December Details 2. :)
You can see all the supplies used at this month’s page over at TwoPeas.

November 15th, 2009 at 6:56 amWonderful cards! I’m so inspired to make the family one. I love seeing everyone’s updated pictures at christmas, but haven’t made any to send out!
I laughed when I saw your tweet about how you say buttons. I’m from Canada and when I’m in the States they make fun of us when we say ‘eh’~ We are all different in the small world!
November 15th, 2009 at 7:11 amthanks for all of the cards you make each week, I love them!
These cards are wonderful! Love your designs. I am learning so much from you. Thank you!

WOWZA! I adore all 3 cards! Thanks much. I signed up at 2 peas so i could vote, but am having trouble finding where others posted their cards.
I love your videos and cards. Thanks for all you do for us!
Since I just posted the class this morning, there aren’t any member submissions yet. But where there are, they are posted at the bottom of the main class page.
I just stopped by to be sure I hadn’t missed a card video in your card series. Wasn’t sure I had watched Fridays card. What a great surprise when I found this video with 3 more cards on it. Love them! Thanks for sharing your talent!
November 15th, 2009 at 11:13 amThanks. Awesome designs, Kristina! Love all of them. The photo of your sister and family is great. Since my son was born 6 years ago, I’ve been sending out photo cards at Christmas time. I haven’t settled on my design this year, so thanks for the inspiration.
November 15th, 2009 at 11:49 amKristina a great set of cards. I love them all. I noticed you’ve switched brands of foamies. How do these foam adhesives compare to SU’s?

November 15th, 2009 at 4:22 pmHi you are very talented & I save a copy of all your cards when I get your newsletter/blog in my email :)
Do you have lessons ?
I have been paper & digital scrapbooking for years but always get at a loss of how to do a layout or card with my idea instead of having a template or magazine to guide me – can you help ?
The only advice I can give you is to just jump in there and start creating. You’ll find out what you do and don’t like. Don’t be afraid of it–just go for it! :)
These cards and ideas are gorgeous! You’re always such a wonderful source of inspiration.
November 15th, 2009 at 5:29 pmStaying organized for me is a BIG challenge!!! First, because if I am not organized I cannot function. Second, because I do not have a craft room or area for that matter.
November 15th, 2009 at 5:53 pmMy supplies are stashed away in a linen closet inside my guest bathroom. Therefore, everything has to have a place: categories are in alphabetical order and everything is labeled so it can be seen at a glance.
It is hard, but if everything has a place and you make a point of putting things back where they belong, it can be done!
I love the simplicity of the brown card. I find myself always wanting to add things, but I really do love simplicity as well. Maybe I just need to challenge myself.
November 15th, 2009 at 5:59 pmVery nice Kristina! I don’t usually think of using brown on Christmas cards, but you make it work. I’m enjoying all of your great work. Thanks.
November 15th, 2009 at 6:13 pmI am soooo going to have to make some cards like these. I’ve been wanting to see ideas on quick card ideas for the holidays. Thanks for the inspiration!
November 15th, 2009 at 8:57 pmLove them all but the 3rd one is especially cute with those little prezzies and the 3-D effect. Great video as always!
November 16th, 2009 at 12:00 amI love all three cards. I’ll actually have to participate in this one – I keep procrastinating and then I miss the deadlines. Anyway, when you’re bored of the Bella Blvd December Details 1 & 2 stamps, let me know – I’ll buy them from you.
November 16th, 2009 at 1:14 amYOUR CARDS ARE AMAZING… LOVE THE FAMILY ONE !!! I WILL TRY TO DO ONE WITH MY OWN FAMILY TO SEND OVERSEAS…ALL YOUR STAMPS AND PAPER ARE GORGEOUS… CANT WAIT FOR TOMORROW’S VIDEO..
November 16th, 2009 at 2:15 amthe brown card is my favourite!
November 16th, 2009 at 6:11 amKristina,
November 16th, 2009 at 6:15 amI am new to scrapbooking & card making. I just purchased a heat embossing tool, some clear embossing powder, and a white embossing ink pad (that actually is clear when stamped, so I need to get white embossing powder). I saw that your ink pad for the brown card is Versamark. Is it just for embossing or is it a pigment ink pad, and what color is it? I guess I have fallen in love with all this embossing and want to learn to do it right :-)
Thanks for any advice.
What a wonderful Christmas present for me this would be. I have my craft room organized with a selction of roll aways. I have them labelled with a dynamo labeller,.I have a desk and hutch just set aside for my big shot and dies. The dies just sit on the desk hutch so they are visible. Every 2 weeks or so I do a quick run through and file the stuff that needs to be filed. This I keep in a drawer so it is hidden. I make lists of to do and work through them. Lists keep me organized but having a place for everything and everything in its place works. For example I use the little $1:50(Cabada) planners from Michales and organize my meals for the week which helps me then plan for my shopping. Thanks for this opportunity to win such a great stash.
November 16th, 2009 at 6:19 amLove the simplicity of these cards… I was wondering though, the .pdf file I see at TwoPeasinaBasket has the templates for the Halloween cards you created for October’s year in cards. I read through the instructions and didn’t see any templates that should have been included, is that right? Tks again, keep them cards coming!
November 16th, 2009 at 7:46 amI am so impressed. I cannot fathom getting rid of ANY paper. I just know I will find a home on a page SOMETIME! Thanks for all of your inpirational work.
November 16th, 2009 at 8:17 ami`m enjoy watching you making cards…keep on good work!

Anita

November 16th, 2009 at 11:52 pmI loved all 3 cards and decided to make them all. I printed a picture from my computer of a cousins shot and I am going to send it to my niece in college. Thanks for the inspiration.
November 17th, 2009 at 7:46 amSuch beautiful cards!! :)
November 17th, 2009 at 8:01 amI love the easy cards. Especially when you are making a lot these would be simple to mass produce.
November 17th, 2009 at 8:17 amI am wondering how your sister got a square picture??? I would love to do that for my christmas cards. It adds just a little something extra to the card.
Lovely cards. I like the colors and the stamps.
November 17th, 2009 at 8:43 amEveline.

November 17th, 2009 at 10:35 amLove all three cards! You’re so creative:) Oh and how cute is that tiny little hole punch, I’ve never seen one so small. Guess I’ll have to tell santa!!
November 17th, 2009 at 7:21 pmHi Kristina:
What is the font you used for the graphic “A Year in Cards”? I’m looking for something for a Christmas poster and it’s gorgeous!
Christina
It’s a font from Veer called Affair.
I’m watching your videos, loving your great cards, their style and simplicity are FAB, and realizing I have never seen all these neat things you have from MS, and the other neato goodies!
November 18th, 2009 at 12:10 amLove all of your christmas cards that you have made so far. I am a scrapbooker but want to get into making cards. I gald you made one with a picture because I was wondering how you would include a family picture. My only problem of making my own cards would be I don’t want to go through all that trouble just for someone to throw it away adding a picture would help and they would more liking keep the card. I am still learning by watching your videos. Thanks for all of your creative thinking.
