Day 11 – Holiday Card Series – Joy to the World

Morning, all!
For today’s card, I wanted to use some patterned paper, but didn’t want to cover it up too much. The paper was too cute! So, I kept the card front simple and allowed the patterned paper to be seen.
I also used BasicGrey’s Rubon Roller to apply the Crate Paper Rubons. I got this tool just a couple months ago and I’m so obsessed with it. I took it to a scrapbook night with some friends back in September and one of the other girls almost walked off with it because she loved it so much! LOL! It really is an awesome tool for applying rubons. I would recommend it. It has a permanent home on my craft desk now. :)
Anyhow, enjoy!
NOTE: I’ve received a LOT of questions about the music included in the videos. It is a 10-second clip of royalty-free music I purchased online. It’s not a real song from an album. :)

November 16th, 2009 at 7:18 amJust watched the video with my 2 year old son. When he heard the Christmas music he said, “Mommy, a card! Cool!” When we finished he wanted to watch more. Seems like you have a new fan in our house!

November 16th, 2009 at 9:26 amon-line the paper looks good but what goes with it. I look forward to all of your videos, keep them coming.

How do I stay organized? Well, I have limited space for my stuff, three 4 feet tall bookshelves, plus two bins from Staples to hold my papers ( minus my 12 x 12 ones, they’re in plastic containers on the bookshelf). All of my stamps are UM now ( well 99% of them) and they are stored in binders, labeled. I have four binders at the moment, Christmas and winter, stamps 1 (words and backgrounds), stamps 2 (animals and floral) stamps 3 (people, collage, misc). My biggest problem is my embellishments: they are in little plastic bags, on binder rings, and they are everywhere!! I really do need to find something to keep them organized.
Well, that’s about it for me, I love your work, it’s very inspiring.
November 16th, 2009 at 9:55 amSo enjoying this series. Thank you!

November 16th, 2009 at 10:48 amAnother winner!! I’d seen that tool, but wondered if it was really better than a wood stick. Seems to be so. Thanks for sharing! Have a great day; you certainly deserve it. :)
November 16th, 2009 at 10:50 amI love your cards and this one is no exception. Do you have any card ideas for masculine birthday cards? I always struggle with that for some reason. I guess most of the cute papers are pretty girly. :)
November 16th, 2009 at 10:55 amLove that! I don’t use too many rub-ons because I have not had good luck but I think it might be the popsicle stick I’ve been used – operator error. I will get one of the BG ones tomorrow! Thanks for the enabling :-)
November 16th, 2009 at 11:02 amGreat card! I always find it very fascinating to see how other people work and design, I always find lots of time saving tips. thx.
November 16th, 2009 at 11:17 amI love this Christmas card series. I look forward to watching this video series everyday. Today I was so surprised to see 3 videos to watch. I am going to get started right now on some cards thanks for the ideas.

November 16th, 2009 at 12:20 pmLove the colours. :-)
So colourful…so christmas…
November 16th, 2009 at 12:24 pmI’ve seen you do other cards with the scalloped strip not the same length as the piece it behind. Just so I can understand…is that a design concept or just your personal aesthetic?
Just a different way of using a scalloped edge. :)
Love the paper. Know that you ROCK and that sometimes I move too fast. Found myself commenting on the last post without answering the question. Oh Well….I was so excited to see all that stuff, I guess I temporarily lost my mind!! Thnks once again.
November 16th, 2009 at 1:21 pmAt first I didn’t think it was necessary to have a special rub-on roller tool. After all, almost all packages of rub-ons come with those plastic sticks or popsicle sticks. Boy was a wrong!! I bought the Basic Grey rub-on tool a couple years ago and never again did i use the included one. I’ve noticed much less tearing and much more even application with this tool.
I’m loving this card series. So much inspiration!! Thanks for sharing!
November 16th, 2009 at 1:49 pmThat is some gorgeous paper!
November 16th, 2009 at 3:01 pmLove your videos!!! Thanks for taking the time to make these awesome vidoes. Can’t wait to see what is next :)

November 16th, 2009 at 3:58 pmThis is some serious cuteness! I love that patterned paper!
November 16th, 2009 at 4:03 pmI may have to try some rub-ons. Loved the card.
November 16th, 2009 at 4:15 pmhi
November 16th, 2009 at 4:31 pmi had forgot to answer the question and i am not sure what you want us to do …but i dont want to be disqualified so i will answer it here..
i find myself really ocd about all of my craft room and i cant stand when something isnt in the right bin or basket so always before starting a new project i clean everything up and i am done fairly quickly…you just have to keep up with it..(:
again sorry for the screw up..
This card is super cute and I agree with not wanting to cover up that patterned paper!
November 16th, 2009 at 4:32 pmSo don’t want this series to end!

November 16th, 2009 at 7:46 pmI have already watched this video three times! I love this paper and I love how you pull out colors that I otherwise would look over in a pattern paper. You have such a great eye for details.
November 16th, 2009 at 7:52 pmlove this chance to win some inspiration from you! you have such great ideas! love it and thanks so much for sharing.
November 16th, 2009 at 7:57 pmThe paper you used for this is so adorable!
November 16th, 2009 at 7:58 pmI like the idea of not covering up the pretty paper and using it as the focal point and just adding the little touch to finish it off. Great tool also for the rub-ons, thanks for the video.
November 16th, 2009 at 8:01 pmHi Kristina,
November 16th, 2009 at 8:13 pmI could have sworn that you had that rub on tool a while back… I remember seeing it somewhere (I thought here) and I was OBSESSED with getting it, and finally did. I love it, too.
Really like your card today – and can’t believe you have over 2,800 comments for the give away. Pretty awesome following!

November 17th, 2009 at 8:00 amGreat paper. Lovely card.
November 17th, 2009 at 8:49 amEveline.
Loved the card. I really love the red card stock. I’m getting great ideas for Christmas Cards this year. I better get started!
November 17th, 2009 at 10:12 amAdorable card! The red AC cardstock matches the patterned paper perfectly. Do you happen to know which color you used (red wasn’t a choice when I visited the AC site)? Thanks.
November 17th, 2009 at 6:28 pmAnother great card. I love the simplicity.
November 18th, 2009 at 11:04 amJust discovered this series though I´ve been watching the Friday your card videos on 2 Peas for some time. Anyway, thanks! And even though I try to clean up constantly and don´t have a lot in my scrap area as am just a beginner, things still tend to get messy quickly. Thanks again for the videos!
November 18th, 2009 at 12:51 pmI wish I could have them… :(( But I can’t have Huhu
