Holiday Card Series - Day 17

Good morning, all! Does anyone else feel so good that it’s a short work week? My word. Bring on the Thanksgiving! I’m ready for a couple days off work! :)

For today’s card, I used some patterned paper from BasicGrey’s Eskmio Kisses collection and also the Snow Blooms rubons from the same collection. I also broke out the rubon roller, which ya’ll know I can’t get enough of. I haven’t been too into rubons in the past, but this little tool is making me think about them more. :)

I also keep the bow-tying in the video instead of editing it out like I usually do. Anyhow, enjoy!

NOTE: I’ve received a LOT of questions about the music included in the videos. It is a 10-second clip of royalty-free music I purchased online. It’s not a real song from an album. :)

Let it Snow – Stampin’ Up! cardstock in Kraft; BasicGrey Eskimo Kisses patterned paper; BasicGrey Snow Blooms White rubons; Stampin’ Up! ribbon; Fiskars Threading Water edge punch; We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper; Uni-ball Signo Broad white gel pen.

Love It!

Linda E November 24, 2009 at 7:07 am

Beautiful card, as always. Two quick questions: If you are rounding your cardstock and the patterned paper that sits on top, do you always use the two different punch sizes? Also, what kind/color nail polish do you have on this week? It’s a really pretty red.

Kristina Werner November 24, 2009 at 10:09 am

Yes, I usually do use two different punch sizes. It just looks better to me. :) I think I was wearing Essie’s Jag-u-are. But I might be wrong… it was a while ago when I filmed today’s video.

Beautiful card Kristina, the bow and the faux stitching just finish it off perfectly and now I know what the paddle end of my rubon roller is for… LOL ! Love your nail polish too !

I just have to say thank you for showing us such great card ideas. I always love your cards. And thanks for all the tips on knot and bow making.

Jane November 24, 2009 at 8:38 am

Great card, you have given me some inspiration for some rub-ons that I didn’t know what to do with!

Jennifer November 24, 2009 at 8:44 am

Cute, Cute!

Katy November 24, 2009 at 8:46 am

A beautiful card! I love the way you match up the colors. I guess it’s best to use paper pads to help match colors for someone like me who doesn’t have a real eye for colors. Thanks for your inspiration.

See you tomorrow!!

April Lindsley November 24, 2009 at 8:58 am

I love this card! I never really thought about using rub ons…but now I think I need to try it out. I also love the bow! :)

Kimmie November 24, 2009 at 9:01 am

I’m not into rubons either but I think I’ll warm up to them soon! Thanks! I’m ready for Thanksgiving as well! :)

Sylvia November 24, 2009 at 11:53 am

So beautiful and festive!!!

Sharon D. November 24, 2009 at 12:21 pm

Cute card! It’s really helpful to see the bow tying action – helps me to understand all the mini adjustments you use to make it look so great! Plus I think I’ve been cutting my ribbon too short – I’ll try leaving it a little longer and trimming it after I finish the bow. Thanks!!!

P.S. I’m SOOO loving my Uniball Signo broad gel pen! I went looking for one after your comparison video (which was super helpful – it made me realize what I was missing) and finally found one a few weeks ago. Almost every card I’ve made since has white gel pen on it – and every time I use it, I think of your terrific cards and videos!

ReNi November 24, 2009 at 12:24 pm

lovely colours :)

Jo November 24, 2009 at 12:37 pm

Beautiful card and what a fabulous bow! I have tried really hard but just cannot tie a nice bow. I think its one of those things you either can or can’t do. I love my uni-ball Signo pen too, although its not too hot when it comes to doodling or writing. Thanks for another great video Kristina, I really look forward to these on my drive home from work, Jo x

Vickie Lee November 24, 2009 at 2:21 pm

Oh so beautiful. You bows are always so perfect. Appreciate the instructions and seeing you do one. Thank you!

Lisa November 24, 2009 at 2:37 pm

What I’m loving the most about the series is the tremendous variety of colors, styles, technqiues and products. You are very creative!

Terri E. November 24, 2009 at 2:46 pm

Love this card. It is not one I would have ever thought of. I really need to bust out that pile of rub ons!

It’s a good life!

Diana November 24, 2009 at 7:28 pm

Thank you for leaving the bow tying on the video. I think it is very helpful to see the whole process. I kept watching the video over and over tonight until I got it right. The part about adjusting it until it really looks right is key.

Billie Anderson November 24, 2009 at 7:28 pm

Where did you get your white gel pen?

Kristina Werner November 25, 2009 at 10:13 am

It’s a Uni-ball Signo Broad gel pen. Just google it to find online retailers.
