Day 21 - Holiday Card Series

Good morning! We jumping right into week 5 this morning. Only 5 cards left until the end of the Holiday Card Series. :)

Today’s card is a sort of a “go to” card for many occasions. By changing up the colors and patterns of the horizontal bands, you can easily create a different card. Just add ribbon and you’re done!

Anyhow, enjoy!

NOTE: I’ve received a LOT of questions about the music included in the videos. It is a 10-second clip of royalty-free music I purchased online. It’s not a real song from an album. :)

Another awesome card — love the rich brown mixed with green!

Maria November 30, 2009 at 6:55 am

Good Morning! Love this card. It might be my favorite so far. But I say that when I see each one ;-)

Can you explain how you are using your grid mat to line things up? I’m sure it’s just me but I don’t get it. I understand you line up the base but what are you using to line up the second piece you are adhereing?

Thanks and have a great Monday.

Maria

Kristina Werner November 30, 2009 at 7:07 am

You use the lines for the second piece as well. You just make sure the second piece lines up on both sides at the same spot or line. Hard to explain, but if you try it, you’ll understand. :)

Hello Maria, I could see where you got a little bit confused about the grid mat. But take a 2nd look at the video. If you will take note, Kristina set the certainly celery cardstock down on the mat such that the top length of the cardstock lines up straight along the horizontal line. Notice too how she took note where she has placed the top left corner of the stamped image and made sure that the right corner falls along the same area on the right side of the mat.
Now, you can use the grid mat for lining up horizontally – or vertically like what Kristina did the second time when she lined up the punched wild wasabi cardstock and adhered it to the certainly celery sentiment. Notice again how she made use of the vertical lines as a guide where to place the cardstocks and making sure that the top is the same distance as the bottom.
Hope my explanation helps :)

Great card and universal!

Wendy Shusterman November 30, 2009 at 7:09 am

I must tell you what an influence (positive) you have been on me. First of all my cards on a whole have been a lot more interesting since I have been watching your videos (over 1 yr) second I just bought 50 sheets of craft card stock (I vowed no more paper!)
and I reorganized and cleaned my craft room!
Thanks again for a great card!
Wendy

Fabulous!!!

Thank you for sharing, and for showing us how to tie a nice looking knot. Nice knots and bows really makes the card complete.

ps i love the cards

Kristina Werner November 30, 2009 at 9:18 am

Maria L. (Canada) November 30, 2009 at 8:30 am

Lovely lovely lovely, two of my favorite colors, green and dark brown…so simple and yet so elegant and sweet (and Christmasy).
I don’t want this to be over, I wish you can continue with card #26, 27 and so on.

rachel November 30, 2009 at 8:51 am

what not faux stitching!! J/K this is the kind of card that made me love your work. I’ve missed seeing things like this one.

Heather November 30, 2009 at 9:13 am

Just adorable! I like the addition of the pink ribbon which would normally be non-traditional for Christmas.

mj November 30, 2009 at 9:23 am

Dawn November 30, 2009 at 10:04 am

OMG! Just too cute! Wonderful colours and super layout! I really love your simple style, yet it is so fresh! I have bought so many little sets by AC and a couple from Hero Arts because of what you have done with them. Normally I am a PTI girl, but I am thinking outside of my box, thanks to you! I am really going to miss this wonderful series, I look forward to it every day!:)

Kimmie November 30, 2009 at 10:19 am

LOVE the colors!

Thank you SO much for saying the dimension of the card base! I don’t make cards as much as you do so I always get confused!

sildain November 30, 2009 at 10:23 am

I love your cards, they are always so beautiful. I don’t think I have ever not liked one.

Have you ever considered making a book of your cards? I would totally buy one and I’m betting a bunch of other people would too! Love your style, it’s the best I’ve found!

Connie November 30, 2009 at 4:49 pm

Wow, Kristina, TOO, TOO, CUTE!! Love the colors and the simple but elegant style. Now, I’m gonna have to make this one too! This has been so much fun – thank you for the early Christmas gifts!

I think this is my favorite – so far!
Thanks for doing these videos.

emily November 30, 2009 at 5:18 pm

I was wondering which polka dot basics your stamp was from, there are 2. Love the green and brown together. I too want to say I wish it wasn’t ending Friday.

Anika December 1, 2009 at 2:52 pm

It’s Polka Dot Basics II. It’s definitely a favorite of mine!!

Anika December 1, 2009 at 2:55 pm

Oops…On second glance it is the first set – so Polka Dot Basics I.

Sorry!!

Sharon D. November 30, 2009 at 5:20 pm

Super cute card! I love the soft greens and pink with the brown! Those polka dots are perfect – kinda like snow falling!
(Wish I could get my hands on PTI’s stuff, but their shipping costs to outside the US is way crazy).

wida miller November 30, 2009 at 5:42 pm

Is the “merry christmas” stamp from SU one you designed? The handwriting looks like yours. Also, you are generous with your use of tape. I did that with my Tombow and ran out pretty fast. Even with coupons, the refills are pricey, any suggestions?

Billie Anderson November 30, 2009 at 7:01 pm

Great card, love rich color of the brown with the green and the ribbon is great. Wonderful card.

Nenita Ang November 30, 2009 at 7:09 pm

Thank you, Kristina for reminding me how I can use the grid mat to line up my cut pieces. Until you mentioned this in your previous videos, I use to have difficulty making my lines straight. Now I am much happier with the looks my cards :D

Diana November 30, 2009 at 7:27 pm

I love the colors of the card. I would have never have thought of these colors together or together for a Christmas card. I really like it.

Kathleen December 1, 2009 at 2:42 am

Loved the trees and how you made the stamp look as if it wrapped around the card…great idea. Thanks for the tip on the grid mat. It does help your cards line up correctly.

Have a blessed day!
