Hi all!
My good friend Shimelle has been doing an online class for a few years that’s all about documenting the holiday season in scrapbooking. There are a LOT of scrappers who have done this class and continue to come back every year because it’s so excellent. The class started yesterday (1st of December) and runs right through the Christmas season, finishing on the 6th of January. BUT, you can join in at any time. It’s $32 (for lifetime membership) and you can find all the details at Shimelle’s blog.
Shimelle was kind enough to offer a free class membership to one of my readers. So, leave a comment telling me about your favorite holiday memory and you’ll be entered into the drawing to win this class! Only one comment per person, so make your comment count. :)
Comments are closing at 10 pm MT tonight, December 2. COMMENTS ARE NOW CLOSED! I’ll post the winner soon.
Good luck!

My favorite Christmas memory was when I was six and I saw the baby Jesus in the manger and thought Santa had left me a doll there. Is it 10 P MT???
My favorite memory is when my sister was born on Christmas Day! I have been thinking of doing a Christmas album through the years.

My favorite holiday memory was when I was about 10 years old. While waiting to go into the living room to see what Santa brought us under the tree, I peeked through the old fashioned wall heater vent that allowed me to see into the living room. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw BIKES there for us! It was the most exciting morning ever.
Wow! I’m going to have to check that out! Sounds AWESOME!
Ok, fav Christmas memory? Hmmm…it would have to be when I found out that Santa wasn’t real – for sure! I suspected it but I wasn’t quite sure. We used to stay at my grandmother’s for Christmas and she used to have an old wood stove on the main floor and right above it was a vent to the upstairs. So, Christmas Eve we went to bed and I woke up ’cause I heard my mom, dad and other relatives downstairs…I looked down the grate and here they were, putting our Christmas gifts under the tree! I knew then, for sure, that Santa wasn’t real! I actually wasn’t disappointed…I thought of it as my little secret to be kept from my three younger siblings! Then the next Christmas began the Christmas gift hunt!
My favorite holiday memory has to be the joyful anticipation of opening my Christmas stocking! Even after 26 years, I can still expect to have one hanging up by the tree when I visit my family each December…and it is always filled with wonderful goodies!
i think my best holiday memory is waking up christmas morning and smelling my mom’s cooking and drinking her home made hot chocolate. then after lunch time my whole family will take turns opening their present, starting from youngest to oldest!! its a great way documenting everyone’s presents!!! :D
what a sweet giveaway!!! thanks kristina
My favorite holiday memory would be of my mom reading ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas every Christmas Eve to my brother and I right before we went to bed.
One of my favorite things about the holidays are my boys. They get so excited. Just seeing their eyes light up when we get a new decoration or we’re going some place special. It’s something I’ll always cherish.
Some of my favorite Christmas memories are just spending time with family. Growing up, we always spent Christmas Eve with my mom’s side of the family & then Christmas morning with my dad’s side. We always had so much fun & ate so much great food. Too many good times to choose from! :)
My favorite Christmas memory is going to see our park district’s dance team perform their Christmas show, and having my kids singing the songs and trying to copy the dances all winter long. Even though they almost knocked over the tree last year singing and dancing to Rocking Around the Christmas Tree, it’s totally worth the show they put on!
One of my favorite Christmas memories was going to Minnesota for Christmas (I live in Texas). It was a perfect “white Christmas” and being an only child, it was so fun being with all my cousins. I loved getting to do all the “snow” activities.
I can still remember the excitment every year on Christmas eve as we all piled into my grandparents car to spend the evening looking at all the Christmas lights we could possibly find. Oohing and aahing as we passed by yards lit up with Christmas lights. We still continue to do this every year only now it me, my husband, my children, and their children. I can hardly wait until we pile into the cars again this year.
One of my fondest memory of Christmas is my husband playing Santa for a church’s charity. There he was in full suede Santa outfit complete with beard and wig. He was joyfully handing out gifts but you can see he that was perpiring heavily due to our tropic weather. Still, he finished his job and he never complained one single time. He’s a darling :)
Ack! I’m almost too late! Glad to see I’m not the only one who didn’t jump on this first thing today though.
Anyway. One of my fondest memories of Christmas is the ‘prep’ the night before for what was sure to be an early morning. We weren’t allowed to get our parents until 7 am, but without fail we’d be up long before then…like 3 am. Who can sleep when there’s some Christmas magic in the air. My siblings and I would make sure we had plenty of books and games to pass those hours that always seemed like a million hours instead of just a few.
I love Christmas and have so many fond memories. Probably one of my favorite was when my husband bought a large package of socks and wrapped them individually.I opened so many packages and only to discover one more pair of socks. He got the biggest kick out of that. It became a joke from then on out. It was fun and I had a lot of gifts that year!!!
My sisters and I thought my dad was going nuts! He was watering the lawn. Not an unusual thing to do but during December in Minnesota, wearing snow boots and watering the lawn is not looked upon as sane. Every day we would ask our mom why dad was watering the snow. She lead us to believe he was crazy. That Christmas morning we opened our presents and each one of use received ice skates, with the big pom pom on the toes. Dad was in the front yard every day during December making us an ice skating rink. I memory that I share every year with my California students, some who have never seen snow.
My favorite Christmas memory is any in which my Grandpa was around. He had this laugh that sounded so joyful! Any of us grandkids could make him laugh and it was the BEST sound!
I have to say every christmas is full of great memories. I never celebrated christmas till i was 21 as my family are jehovahs witnesses so now that i do i know what all the fuss is about and i just love everything, especially seeing my childrens faces when its xmas morning
My favorite memory is waiting till midnight to open presents. Every hour we begged if we can open them but we always had to wait. Time seemed to move so slow but it was definitely worth the wait.
My favourite Chritmas memory was of the year that I went home for the hollydays after having to spend Chistmas way from the family in the previous year. As I grew older the magic wasn’t the same, but in the first year I came to Scotland I sent Christmas alone. That made me realise how much I missed my family and friends back home. The next year the magic was back and I was very gratfull for the opportunity to be back home.
If I’m not too late, I’ll try to comment.
My favorite holiday memory is making a snow bear and coloring it pink with colored water. We gave it a necklace, and eyes, and it looked like a Grateful Dead dancing bear.
My favorite holiday memory is waiting to open gifts after Christmas lunch.
Thanks for the giveaway!
I think this is too late, but I’d like to share anyhoo! My beautiful daughter Katinka would never sit on Santa’s knee to have her Christmas photo taken. We tried year after year but I think he was just too wooly or something. We were shopping one day when she was about 6 1/2 & she saw Santa & literately ran up to him & jumped on his knee! I’m not sure what had changed or why she did it, I was just so pleased to finally get a photo of her on Santa’s knee. The scrapbook page I made with the resulting photo is one of my very favourite pages x
Back when I was 8 years old my twenty-something cousin taught use how to sew mini Christmas stockings as presents for friends and family. I remember tracing and cutting out the stocking pieces on adorable Christmas fabrics. I still think about those cute little stockings and want to do the same with my girls when they are old enough. Thanks for the giveaway!
My favorite christmas memory is when I was about 6 and I got my Baby Crissy Doll. I loved her so much. I loved playing with her hair that grow and would get short again. That was my favorite gift ever!
We used to have a Santa Claus who sits on a lorry with carolers passing by our houses, many many years ago. He will throw candies from his lorry for the kids along the street. I know, it sounds a bit pathetic but it was fun for us, a long time ago… :)
My favorite holiday memory is getting my first bike when I was 5 yrs old. I kept asking my parents how santa got it into our house as we didn’t have a chimney … never did get a good answer out of them, but I loved that bike!
My favourite Christmas memory is waking up super early every year, sneaking into my older brothers room to wake him up (that’s if he wasn’t already awake…sooo excited at that age!), then we would sneak out to the Christmas tree to look at the sea of presents that Santa had delivered over night. We’d then discuss whether it was tooo early to wake Mum and Dad. Usually we just couldn’t wait, so we’d put the kettle on and then wake mum and dad. Then the unwrapping marathon would begin!!
My best Christmas is unwrapping those presents under the Christmas tree on 12am Christmas morning. =)
My favorite holiday memories are of our annual bonfire:) Lovely prize!! Thanks!

I love Christmas! My favorite memory is when I was 9 and my brother was 3, we were all at my Grandparents house. It was very early, probably around 5 am and my brother had snuck out of bed to see if Santa had visited….he discovered an electric Powerwheels “Chips” motorcycle (I’m dating myself here, aren’t I!). He began driving the motorcycle all around the house, banging into doorways and crashing into everything, waking everyone up. He was so excited! My brother drove that motorcycle every day for the next three years or so!
No doubt my FAVORITE Christmas memory was the year my husband came home from deployment on Christmas day! He came in around 1 pm…the kids stayed in their jammies and wore them to the airport to pick him up! The BEST gift ever was having him home!
What a wonderful gift, I’ll be sure and go check out her class. My fondest memory is when I was about six or so. My brother and I got a ukelali (that was mine) and he got a guitar. Luckily I have an old picture of us under a tree ladened down with tinsel and presents all around. Wonderful memories of treasured Christmases.
