Finally Friday – Christmas Stocking

Finally Friday

Morning, all! Happy Friday!

For today’s Finally Friday project, I decided to try some more paper-piecing. In the video, I show you how to draw your own stocking template and then cut out the pieces to assemble a paper-pieced Christmas stocking tag (which would make a GREAT tree ornament, too!). It was so fun to pick out the patterned papers and put it all together. Sort of like quilting and picking out pieces of fabric. :)

For my stocking, I chose some papers from Cosmo Cricket’s Jolly By Golly 6×6 paper pad. Anyhow, enjoy!

CHALLENGE: Create your own Christmas stocking, or other paper pieced tag. Then, upload an image of your tag to the TwoPeas gallery and select this week’s Finally Friday. Your tag will then appear at the bottom of this week’s Finally Friday page. :)

Great Stocking! They would make great craft projects for a children’s Christmas party.

So loooovely !!
it seems so easy to make, I wish I could draw but I don’t have that talent … but you know what I will try.
I want you to know that the time you share with us is utterly appreciated

Very nicely done. It makes my gift own tags look a little underdone.

The stocking is so cute! I really like the glitter!

Wendy Nasmith December 11, 2009 at 11:19 am

This is so cute! I love the effect of the glitter on the writing. 3d AND glittery – perfect for Christmas!!

Emma December 11, 2009 at 11:33 am

I am so glad its Friday – I think I’m having Christmas card withdrawal after your Holiday card marathon. I love the tag. I am certainly one who likes to make the wrapping as special as the gift inside. People can spend so long choosing the right gift but only 2 minutes wrapping it! It’s a shame.

Natalie December 11, 2009 at 2:29 pm

LOVE this!! It is just too cute…

I must tell you though…I live in Canada, and I was watching TV the other night when a commercial came on…and in the background it had the same music that plays at the start of your FF videos…and I couldn’t figure out why the computer was off…but I could still hear one of your videos playing!! It was too funny!

P.S I realize it is just RF music!

Stephanie December 11, 2009 at 2:52 pm

Melanie Bray December 11, 2009 at 6:50 pm

Wow…this is great! So good to see it from start to finish…very unique and makes me want to go and make one! You make sketching look so easy when you break it down into steps like you do. Thanks for your amazing inspiration! Love, Mel :)

Diana December 11, 2009 at 7:21 pm

It was so cool to watch you draw that stocking. Then take us through making it become a tag. It is interesting to watch this process coming from someone who cannot draw. I loved it. I like cubby looking stockings. And really love this paper. I have this paper pad myself and here it is two weeks from Christmas and all my cards and tags are made and I love this paper so much I can not cut into it!
It is so sad.

Sara December 11, 2009 at 8:01 pm

Anahí December 12, 2009 at 2:13 am

So beautiful!!!

Nikki M December 12, 2009 at 3:33 am

My daughters and I have made it a bit of a tradition to watch all of your videos and it was a tough ride from the end of your 25 days series until this one! ;) They’ve become little card video groupies! ;) Well, we really enjoyed this one and now we are inspired to make some gift tags of our own. Adding the CC 6X6 pad to my bucket! Thanks again!

Super cute. I had my daughter leaning on my shoulder watching (probably wanted to get onto the computer). She said, if my name was Kate, THAT is exactly how I’d write it, it’s really pretty.
Thanks, for FF.

mj December 12, 2009 at 6:11 am

oh wow … this is so cute! loved seeing the process from sketching to complete … awesome! :)

NatQuebec December 12, 2009 at 6:53 am

oohhhh it’as so nice ! Must be nice also in the Xmas tree :-)

Jennifer December 12, 2009 at 7:51 am

This is adorable. Your work is one of my top inspirations, it never fails. This time, you even inspired me enough to clean up my craft area so I’d have room to do this fun project!

Dixie C. December 12, 2009 at 3:35 pm

I love this paper collection!

Winter December 12, 2009 at 10:15 pm

Very cute! Love those papers! :)

Tarynne December 13, 2009 at 1:09 am

very cute.. i like how Kate’s name came out.. it looks really good! If I tried to free hand a stocking as you did, mine would look nothing like one! =]

Angela Fehr December 13, 2009 at 12:09 pm

Love this stocking! I am not good at making tags. I’m thinking it might work to make a bunch of bookmarks and use them as tags – somehow I just shut down mentally when it comes to making tags. I did use your stocking how-to to inspire my own shaped card gift card holder – using a Canadian toque as the shape. http://scrapsfrommytable.blogspot.com/2009/12/shaped-card-gift-card-holder-toque.html

Steph December 13, 2009 at 9:09 pm

LOVE this! Going to have to make a few of these tags for gifts, definitely. Thanks for the awesome tutorial!

Sharon D. December 14, 2009 at 12:35 pm

SO cute!!! As always, love your choice of colours – and the glitter on the name is fab!

Jayne December 16, 2009 at 5:56 am
