Finally Friday - Love You

Good morning, all!

For this week’s card, I thought it would be a great time to start into Valentine’s Day cards. And when I think of Valentine’s Day cards I think of the little cards I exchanged with my friends when I was a little girl. Smaller cards are perfect for Valentine’s Day! Plus, they’re super cute because they’re little. :)

I used one of the free BasicGrey mini stamp sets on this card. (You can get one of the mini sets for free when you order $25 worth of BG product from the TwoPeas store). Then I paired it with some American Crafts patterned paper, a stamp from their Letterbox collection, and a kraft envelope from Maya Road. Super quick and simple.

CHALLENGE: Create a small card. Simply upload your card for this challenge to the TwoPeas gallery, select this Finally Friday video when you upload your image, and your creation will be linked up the challenge and appear at the bottom of the FF page.

Enjoy!

Oh, and don’t forget the Color Challenge. You have until Tuesday evening to submit your card. :)

Ohh – super cute card!!! That coral trim is yummy and I love the little envie with the scallops, too! I also really like that you left the bits in the video showing how you changed your mind and tried a few things before you were satisfied. Thanks!

Such a cute card! I also appreciate you showing how you change your mind, etc. It’s very encouraging to a newbie :-) What kind of little scissors do you use for all that tiny trimming?

Kristina Werner January 8, 2010 at 9:57 am

Paper Snips from Stampin’ Up.

Jingle January 8, 2010 at 8:57 am

This is such a pretty little card! I love those envelopes! They just make me happy!

Barb. Smith January 8, 2010 at 9:11 am

Nice job with the card and not too fussy. The envelope was great. Anyone would LOVE to receive this it.

Kimberly January 8, 2010 at 9:24 am

Cute! I just love smaller cards, and that envelope is fantastic…good job Kristina =)

Evonne January 8, 2010 at 9:52 am

I enjoy watching your thought process as you design your cards. I also like how you use background stamps in your designs. If I don’t have the same color ink as my cardstock, can I achieve the same look if I use Versa Mark with my background stamp?
Evonne

Kristina Werner January 8, 2010 at 9:58 am

Yes, you can get a similar look. Sometimes VersaMark is a little bit too light for me. But that’s just my personal preference.

Janice January 8, 2010 at 10:31 am

Love the card. I recently found some old (approx 30 years old) children’s Valentines, and I thought I would use them on cards.

You are such an inspiration.

Vickie January 8, 2010 at 10:53 am

This card is absolutely adorable — love the colors!

barb in Edmonton January 8, 2010 at 10:55 am

Love your use of colours on this card. I often don’t think to use ribbon as a contrast colour (as opposed to matching it to the cardstock). Thanks for the great ideas.

Tiff@ThreePeas January 8, 2010 at 11:29 am

Thanks for the video! I’m just starting out. Don’t know why it has taken me so long. :) But i love that you told the brand of product you were using. Makes shopping much easier!

karina January 8, 2010 at 11:39 am

I just *heart* this design. It made me smile when I visited your blog just now. Thanks for ending my week on a high note ;0)

Denni January 8, 2010 at 12:42 pm

super cute! I love to watch your thought processes

Angie (your Utah neighbor) January 8, 2010 at 1:03 pm

I’m with Jo above; love seeing how your mind works without editing out your process. It changed into a completely different card. I love it. Gotta have those envelopes! Have a great weekend.

Linda Lapotka January 8, 2010 at 5:22 pm

Very cute! I love how you changed you mind. You just know when it is right! I love you cards.

Jean Martin January 8, 2010 at 6:07 pm

Sooo nice! I didn’t realize it was that small until I saw the video. What’s the difference between a chalk ink pad from a pigment?

Kristina Werner January 9, 2010 at 6:33 pm

Pigment inks are very VERY wet and take a long time to dry. They are fade-resistant, though. Chalk inks dry quickly after stamping.

Karen Acevedo January 8, 2010 at 6:52 pm

cute card!! :)

Is there any way I could browse the mini Basic Grey stamp sets? Or is it just a random pick that twopeas gives you? I can’t find them on the site..

Thanks <3

Kristina Werner January 9, 2010 at 6:34 pm

I don’t think they have them in the TwoPeas store. But you can see them here.

Matildy Jane Designs January 8, 2010 at 8:40 pm

Adorable as always! Great inspiration!

Anh January 8, 2010 at 11:28 pm

This is so cute! I was thinking of some “non-valentines” colors. Great color combo!

Donna C January 9, 2010 at 12:23 am

I love how you kept the part in the video about changing you mind about placing the heart. It turned out great.

Tauna January 9, 2010 at 12:49 am

Kristina,
I’m totally addicted to your youtube videos! I know it’s the 11th of January, but I just finished watching your 25 days of Christmas….AGAIN! Dorky I know, but I get such good ideas from them. I am just getting back into cards and scrapbooking after a long hiatus of children and work. I’ve spent a ton of money getting “toys” to enjoy this better. I always have a pencil and paper handy when you mention what you are using so I can look for it and go buy it.
Thanks for all your work. It was a blast to watch again.
Now on to Valentine cards!

Tauna January 9, 2010 at 12:50 am

oops, not sure where the 11th of January came from….

Wendy January 9, 2010 at 7:41 am

Cute card – I love making tiny ones!

Just wondering – how do you store your clear stamps? I have all of mine in a galvanized bucket from Target, but I’m always trying to decide if there’s a better way.

Kristina Werner January 9, 2010 at 6:35 pm

I mention where I keep my stamps in my craft room video.

Johanna January 9, 2010 at 12:13 pm

This card is SO cute!! And the most fun part is when I watched this video, mye boyfriend (in a nother part of the room) said: “It’s finally friday…” just before you introdused that that’s what it was. Even he “knows” you Kristina (and he diden’t even see the movie). – And I watch a lot of different scrapbook and card videoes:)

Vickie Lee January 9, 2010 at 3:03 pm

Lovely! Love watching you!!!!!!!!!!

Diana January 9, 2010 at 5:38 pm

I agree with the other comments, I love to watch your process. It is very helpful. I have said this before in past comments, you are a very good teacher.
Very sweet card. I always struggle with very small stamps. You make make it all seem so easy.
I love that envelope.

Iris January 9, 2010 at 7:31 pm

Where do you get the dimension things?
Anyway, I love that card and that envelope is adorable!!!!!!
:-)

Kristina Werner January 10, 2010 at 9:45 am

Those are Stampin’ Dimensionals from SU. All my tools and usual supplies are listed in the FAQ: http://www.kwernerdesign.com/blog/?page_id=649

Vicki January 10, 2010 at 5:06 am

Oh Kristina this is just beautiful and I just love those envelopes, gorgeous!

Karla January 10, 2010 at 10:24 am

Hello Kristina,

I have been a fan for a long time and like everyone else I apreciate everything you create and all the knowedge you share with us.

I have a question… is there a way to make my pics bigger when I post them in my blog? I love how you make yours big and show the details up close.

if you go to my blog you will notice how small my pictures are. I am using Blogger though so do you happend to know if they have a determined size for pics?

Thanks!
Karla

Kristina Werner January 10, 2010 at 10:15 pm

I wish I could help you more, but I don’t know much about Blogger. Perhaps someone else here does?

Iris January 10, 2010 at 8:00 pm

Is there any store where you can get all those or most of the supplies in Seattle(Washington)???

Kristina Werner January 10, 2010 at 10:16 pm

I’m not sure because I’m not familiar with the area. Sorry I can’t help more! :)

Nina January 11, 2010 at 2:11 am

Hey Kristina, I wanted to comment on your Holiday Series but unfortunately the comments are closed. Anyway, I made many Xmas cards based upon your HCS creations, I have posted my 15 favourite cards (made 41 altogether this Christmas :)) on my blog to vote.

If you’d like to have a look: http://ninasays.wordpress.com/2010/01/03/i-wish/

(Featured are Day 6, Day 22, Day 21, Day 14, Day 23 [got most of the votes so far!], Day 12 and Day 4)

And of course, I wanted to thank you whole-heartedly for the effort you made, I created a card every day because of the HCS, otherwise I would not have managed to create as many cards that are all so different. Your blog is my favourite and I wish you all the best!

Greetings from snowy Heidelberg (Germany)!

Eveline van Heijst January 11, 2010 at 3:24 am

It’s Monday morning and I just watched the video. Why are there only 24 hours in a day?? I need more.
Love the creative process of this card, you can almost hear you thinking.
Lovely card
Eveline.

Kim S. January 11, 2010 at 9:37 am

Hi Kristina,
Great card (as usual) :-) Can you tell me where you got your clear mounting block? It looks more substantial than anything I’ve seen in the stores. Thanks!
Kim S.

Kristina Werner January 11, 2010 at 10:07 am

I’m actually not sure where it came from. I took it out of the packaging and haven’t thought about where I got it since! LOL! That’s probably why a lot of companies are putting their name on the blocks now. Sorry I can’t help more!
