MACM – Happy Girl

in Cards, Make a Card Monday

MACM - Happy Girl

Good morning, all! I hope your weekend was fabulous.

For me, I’ve been re-watching the Colin Firth version of Pride & Prejudice (which I found on Blu-ray) and finished up the last episode this weekend. Still to this day, when Lydia says she wants to run off to Brighton, I just want to shake her! Argh!

Anyway, and after I finished that, I watched the last installment of the new Emma that’s been showing on PBS for the last three weeks (if you’re in the US, you can watch it online here through March 9th).

Yep. No Super Bowl for me. Just give me Jane Austen. :)

Anyhow, on to the card! For this week’s card, I used Hero Art’s Crossword Background stamp, American Crafts’ Glee stamp set, and a flower from BasicGrey’s June Bug Woolies. One of my more simple cards, I think. :)

Enjoy!

BTW, Make a Card Monday might be up a bit later next week. I’m going to Texas this weekend and won’t be back until Monday evening. I’m not sure what my internet connection will be like while I’m gone. :)

Um, excuse me, but I completely love this!!! Oh, and I loved the last installment of Emma. It turned out quite well. When he takes her to the sea shore I almost cried.

Great job! Love that Hero Arts stamp. Need to buy StazOn cleaner.

We didn’t watch the Super Bowl either. I’m interested in the ads though.

Katy February 8, 2010 at 9:07 am

I love the simplicity of this card but the crossword stamp really adds a nice subtle texture, loving the vellum too!

Hey there! I love this Glee stamp from American Crafts. Found it last week at Robert’s. And, can you really ever go wrong with BG’s Woolies? They’ve become a little addiction of mine lately. Layered felt…oh my! Thanks for another beauty of a card. Have a great time in Texas!

Beautiful card!

Rebecca February 8, 2010 at 10:52 am

As usual, great card! I kept switching between Emma and the Superbowl because I love the commercials! Gotta love Jane Austin, too. :)

Absolutely gorgeous! Love the piercing of the vellum. And I really like that background stamp. I have ordered some Kraft cardstcock because I just love what you have done. Thanks for all the inspiration. You have many fans here in Canada!!

I loved the final installment of Emma too … so good!!

Have a wonderful trip!!

TracieClaiborne February 8, 2010 at 12:12 pm

Great card! I own P&P too and watch it over and over when I need a Jane Austen fix. I also watched Emma and loved it. You can pre-order it on Amazon right now for $21! I’m thinking about getting it. It was the best version of it I’ve ever seen. I cried like a baby at the end!! I wish it would have shown their wedding though.

My daughter and I are BIG, HUGE Jane Austen fans. My favorite is Pride and Prejudice with Mathew Macfadyen, you have to watch that one if you haven’t already.
Nice card, as always.

I’m so excited to have found your blog… I’ve been watching all your stuff on Two Pea’s youtube channel for hours on end lately! :)

I’m super psyched to try the MS scoring board soon – too bad it’s sold out at Two Peas :( So in the meantime I’m wondering where you got your translucent plastic T square?? Tried my local fabric store, craft store, hardware store, art store and all I can find are wood and metal! Any other suggestions?

Thanks for all the awesome inspiration!

Kristina Werner February 8, 2010 at 2:32 pm

Thanks! Check my FAQ page. There’s a link there about the t-square. :)

Anna February 8, 2010 at 2:47 pm

Thank you!

Rach February 8, 2010 at 5:37 pm

LOVE LOVE LOVE that version of P&P…might just have to go and watch it again!! I am interested in the Emma that you are talking about but won’t be able to see it as not in US! Your card is also beautiful! Have a great time in Texas!

Tiffany February 8, 2010 at 5:41 pm

Wow, so sweet, love that whimsical looking flower!

JeanD February 8, 2010 at 7:13 pm

I so agree about Jane Austen. I got the new Emma for Christmas from my son who lives in the UK, no sign of it on Aussie TV yet. I loved it.
Always love your cards, you are such an inspiration.

Travelingmama February 8, 2010 at 7:29 pm

This is super cute!!

Tanya H February 8, 2010 at 10:33 pm

LOVE your card and THANKS for the link to Emma! I’ve been watching it but we didn’t get home til 815 last night so I missed the beginning! I really like this version.

Princess Danell February 8, 2010 at 10:49 pm

Clever flower!

Me too! Finished Emma (PBS) last night. Never can get tired of Jane Austen. I think Northanger Abby is coming up! Oooh! And Mr. Nightly was married to Angelina Jolie. I think he is much cuter than Brad Pitt. Maybe it’s the accent….oh well

Ilse February 9, 2010 at 7:44 am

O my, isn’t this one just lovely? Love the sweet cheerfull colors on this card. You inspire me with every card!

O and Jane Austen over everything any day. Addicted to it, you might say. Love this Emma version. Number one is the 2005 P&P version… sigh. Did you catch Little Dorrit on PBS as well? No, that’s not Jane Austen, but also sooo adorable! (and with the 2005 mr. Darcy as Mr. Clennam… another sigh)

Greetings from Holland, Ilse

The flower is really cute, I am going to have to check out the Woolies.

Masterpiece does such an amazing job. I am a huge Jane Austen fan, I would have much preferred watching that to the SuperBowl. I have quite a collection of Jane Austen movies but not BluRay (hmm) and thanks TracieClaiborne about the tip for finding Emma on Amazon.

Victoria February 9, 2010 at 11:27 am

Hi, K. Love the card – as always. It’s my special treat – twice a week.

P&P is my favourite! Colin Firth in a wet shirt!!! And yes I could shake Lydia too. I read a wonderful book (not too heavy – just right for the Christmas break) called “The Independence of Miss Mary Bennet” by Colleen McCullough. Kind of a sequel to P&P but focusing on Mary. Absolute fun – and as a speculation on “wonder how Darcy and Elizabeth really get on?” it’s fun too.

joanna February 9, 2010 at 11:45 am

hi -
loved it!
love ur choice of movies too

Monique February 9, 2010 at 11:52 am

Hi Kristina, I found your website like 4 weeks ago looking for “how to tie a knot and bow” and look at me now! Totally addicted (glad to see I am not the only one) and really looking forward to your postings, even if it’s a Monday :-). You make things seem so easy to do and give me lots and lots of inspiration. Too bad some of the products you use are not for sale in Holland but I already made it a sport to find the next best thing! :-)
Thanks for sharing! Greetings from cold Holland!

NatQuebec February 9, 2010 at 4:05 pm

very nice card,
thanks

Shilpa February 10, 2010 at 7:43 am

Lovely card!

And i absolutely LOVE Colin Firth in P&P !!! i’ve seen the series about 6 times already! Ah, the pond scene……

Carolyn February 10, 2010 at 11:20 am

Love the card as always. I just saw a video of a magnetic cutting board. Was that you?

Diana February 10, 2010 at 1:36 pm

I own the P&P version with Colin Firth, to me he is the only Darcy. Watched it a dozen times and I too finished watching Emma on PBS Sunday night, loved it!
I am really getting into felt on cards so I enjoyed this Monday’s video. On Papertrey’s blog they are coming out with colored wool felt and dies in the spring. I am interested in seeing more of this, I love their colors.

Jennifer Liñán Saiz February 10, 2010 at 2:36 pm

LOVEEEEEEE!!!

Brit S. February 11, 2010 at 9:11 am

Love this! Do you know where the black satin ribbon is from? It looks like something I need to add to my stash. :)

Kristina Werner February 11, 2010 at 10:20 am

Hi Brit! I believe it’s just some Offray ribbon from my local craft store. :)

Brit S. February 11, 2010 at 7:11 pm

Oh alright. It just looked extra shiny. Thanks!

Kimberly February 17, 2010 at 2:01 pm

Nice card, as always!
Also wanted to point out that this is your 101st MACM video (according to the count on the right of your site) so congrats on that!!!!

Kim

Actually, there’s just been 101 posts marked with MACM. The next MACM video will be the 100th. Which is another reason I didn’t want to rush this week’s video (which has now become next week’s… I need to catch up after my trip to Texas!)
