MACM – Masked & Misted Card

Morning, all!

For this week’s Make a Card Monday card I wanted to try using some ink mist. Back in January (yes, it was a while back), Kelly Purkey gave me some Studio Calico Mister Huey’s Mist to try out. One of the colors she gave me was Piglet. Such a pretty pink color! Before I made this card, I tested the mist out and sprayed it only a couple times on some white cardstock. It was a nice pale, subtle pink. But as you can see in today’s card, the mist layers really well and creates a nice “Piglet” pink. I think the name is perfect!

Anyhow, I created a design in the Silhouette Studio software that I used as a mask while I misted the ink on the front of the card. Super fun! The video tutorial of how I created the repeated circle design is below the MACM video.

Enjoy!

  14. Hi Kristina,
Loved the card turned out really cute! FYI there is a non dairy product called Catsip that you can give Mannie as a treat and he wont get sick then.. just to treat the little guy. I know you took good care of him. Our doggie gets things she isn’t able to eat either and gets really sick too. We try to keep things off the floor and out of her reach but the sneak gets them anyway sometimes. I have to make her food for her so I know what you mean about keeping an eye on them and they sneak things when you turn your back.. Hope he feels better soon. Also very sorry about your boss will keep it in prayer.. God Bless

    • Unfortunately, CatSip made him sick, too. We tried it about a year ago. :(
Poor kitty just doesn’t get to eat anything but his special food from the vet.

  15. The Silhouette Studio How-To is so helpful, Kristina! I am seriously considering purchasing a Silhouette. Would you wait for the new one in October, the Cameo, I believe? I don’t plan to do scrapbooking, just cards, so the larger paper size is not terribly important to me. I am a Mac user, but the current model is Mac compatible, correct? Am just wondering what you would do…if there are any other improvements that would make waiting worthwhile. Thanks so much! I, like so many others, very much value your opinion!

    • In your case, I would want until the Cameo comes out but not to buy the Cameo. I bet a lot of current Silhouette owners will sell them in order to buy the Cameo. You’ll get a great deal on the current model. :)

  16. I always took forward to your cards and tutorials they are wonderful, you are so creative! I have a Sil and sometimes have so much trouble with it! I am not that tech savy! I did fine with the circles till I got to modify- weld. When I hit that all of the circles disappeared! I only had the outline left! Also releasing the compound path did not let me erase the little pieces in the intersections. Can’t figure what I am doing wrong. Any help would be appreciated.
    Hugs to you and Mannie.

    • Hmmm… Sounds like you missed the step where you subtract the inner circle from the outside (before you start repeating the circles). Hope that helps! :)

  17. Kristina, you are a doll! Thanks so much.

  18. WOW!! LOVE the silhoutte and the way that you designed the card!! What a cute little card and SO EASY to make!! I LOVE your Mannie pic’s!! He sure is a pretty kitty and could be a long lost brother to my mother-in-laws cat Sam!! They both have the BRIGHT white with the black and they are both naughty at times!! =) Sam is milk/food intolerant too!! One of my friends had Sam ever since college and then had kids and both of her daughters ended up being SUPER allergic to pet dander which made her SO SAD because Sam was her first baby!! He was 7 years old and she refused to give him to just anyone!! My mother-in-laws pet cat Pumpkin (16 years old) had just died and she was so sad and I knew that Sam would be the PERFECT solution for both of them!! He has been an AWESOME pet and is getting old too know 14. I can’t believe how beautiful they still are even as they age!! He is SO SMART too he is potty trained only he will grab the door knob and ask to go outside to do his business~no kitty litter box for Sam~~Cathy has been spoiled she says!! Anyway~LOVE your blog and hearing your stories about Mannie!! They are truly a part of the Family!! =) Have a FABULOUS WEEK!! =)
