Tim Holtz Seasonal Distress Inks

© Simon Says Stamp

Hello, all! This is my first post and video for Simon Says Stamp, and I’m happy to show you a card featuring the brand new Tim Holtz Seasonal Distress Inks. These are limited quantity in the Simon Says Stamp store, so be sure to pick them up while you can. :)

I had a lot of fun playing with the inks for this video! This was one of my very first experiences with Distress Inks, so I’m proof that anyone can use them! You can get awesome artistic looks using these inks. Just be prepared for inky fingers. ;)

I also wanted to note that I did not use a Ranger Craft Sheet. A lot of artists use a Craft Sheet because it makes clean up easier and it helps to pull in the ink from the edges (like I did around the edges of the music patterned paper here). Instead of a Craft Sheet, I used a page protector from a scrapbook. Really all you need is a slick surface. It also comes in handy when you’re doing the technique with water I show at the beginning of the video.

Anyhow, enjoy! If you have any questions about the inks, please leave a comment. I’ll try to answer, and if I don’t know the answer I’ll track down someone who does. :)

Enjoy!

  1. Hi Kristina! Love the card — those Distress Inks are pretty cool. :-) What color cardstock did you use for the base? Hero Arts layering papers are in your supply list, but it looks like kraft to me. Thanks in advance!

  2. Great card, Kristina! I only have one distress ink pad… This video has definitely inspired me to add more to my collection. Thanks for sharing!

  3. Love it! I am glad to see more ways to use Distress Inks. I am still new to these inks and love them.

  4. kind of off topic, but have you ever used an embossing pen? if so, can you recommend it?

  7. I love it-these are some great techniques. My inks are on the way and I can’t wait to try them.I’ve been using some big leftover ziploc bags for my craft sheet lately!

  8. yeah …. is Thursday now another card-day??? Will Monday and Friday stay the same??
*hoping so keeping fingers crossed* … love always to see your working-process.

  9. Thank you… I am sure we will be seeing more videos from the Simon Says Stamp Site. I hope this will also be a weekly feature and we get to meet you thrice a week. I so wait for Mondays and Fridays (Tuesdays and Saturdays in my case as I am from India) to see your videos.

    Thank you once again…

  10. I’ve also just started using them and so far it’s been pretty fun. Just so you know, I did a comparison of Barn Door and Festive Berries next to each other and they are exactly the same color. So you can pass on Barn Door if you’re considering getting it :)

  11. totally beautiful card!

  12. Question: do you have to use that blending tool, or can is there a cheaper alternative?

  13. I saw the heart too and was wondering if I had missed something. I love this card. I’ve never used distress inks before, it looks like fun!

  14. love this card!!!! i need to try new techniques with Distress ink :)

  15. I like the effect created by this technique, I’ll need to try it sometime. By the way, I made my own version of the turkey card you made a couple of years ago and posted it on my blog. Thank you for sharing!

  16. I’ve never used distress inks. Could you do this technique with any kind of ink? Awesome card Kristina, thanks for sharing :)

  17. gorgeous card … I LOVE it… very artsy! =)

  18. I know that I do not always watch your videos in chronological order, but I notice that lately you are not seen to be using an embossing buddy, or a dryer sheet. Is this because you are doing this off screen, or have I missed something here?
    Thanks
    Julie
