Friday Focus – One Layer Card #1

Morning, all!

Today marks the beginning of another Friday Focus series, this time on one-layer cards. :)

In today’s video I wanted to show you a few tips for creating top layer card, including:

  • Limit your stamping ink colors to just two. Use one less that the other and it will become the focal point. In this case, the red ampersand.
  • Overlap images. By overlapping the stamped label shapes with the handwritten sentiment, it gives a multiple layer look without adding any layers to the card.
  • Consider using a white pen to create intricate areas. By adding a small lined border to the edges of the card, and overlapping the stamped banners, it “grounds” the top edge of the card which might have felt empty otherwise.

For the stamping on the card I used My Mind’s Eye’s Baby stamp set from the Miss Caroline collection. This stamp set has a lot of images and I feel like you get a lot for your money. I’m seriously loving My Mind’s Eye’s collections right now. :)

Anyhow, enjoy!

New Tim Holtz Class

Many of you know that Jennifer McGuire and I started Online Card Classes last summer. We’re so happy to have Tim Holtz teaching a class at OCC this month! He’s amazing to work with and has more talent in his little pinky finger than… just about everyone! LOL! He has an awesome class planned and I hope you’ll check it out!

You can register for Tim Holtz’s Creative Chemistry 101 HERE. There’s also a great video there showing how we run classes at OCC, too. :)
