Friday Focus – Embossed Envelope Using a Studio Calico Mask

Morning, all! Last week I showed a stamped envelope, and this week I wanted to show an embossed envelope. Is this turning into a mini series? Who knows! I just tried out embossing with a Studio Calico mask earlier this week and I loved the results so much I wanted to show you guys! :)

Basically I used the mask as if it was one half of a embossing folder for a die cutting machine. The “sandwich recipe” for the Big Shot is shown in the video.

Sadly, the Studio Calico masks are sold out at most online stores. But if you have other masks on hand already (even from other companies), put them through your die cutting machine! See what happens! :)

Enjoy!

  4. These companies should be paying you big bucks! You have the COOLEST ideas for uses of products and you make me want to try them all. Thank you for sharing your amazing talents with all of us! You have helped me so much. I hope you have a great day.

  5. Thanks for sharing this idea! Bought the bubble for trying out the versamark inking on it, but didn’t turn out well… And misting gave me a not so nice result out as well… Nearly give up, until you gave me a different perspective on using this mask! Thanks for the never ending inspiration!

  6. Great idea! TFS

  7. I have tryed this with my embossing folders but it put holes in the evenlope. any ideas on how to fix this problem? Thanks *denise*

    • The embossing folders are probably too deep (does that makes sense?) and the envelope paper is so thin it’s tearing. You might try putting a thin piece of paper (printer paper, etc) between the embossing folder and the envelope. That might soften the embossing just a bit. I haven’t tried it myself, but it might work. :)

  8. How clever! I love it!

  9. Great idea! I was wondering if you could make a video on how to make enevlopes? Thanks

    • I don’t make envelopes, actually. I tried it a few times and was just too frustrated. Instead I buy pre-made envelopes in various sizes and try to make sure that my cards will fit in one of them (unless I hand deliver the cards–then I don’t worry so much).

  10. such a great looking envelope! so simple, so delightful! :)
