MACM – Embossed Color Blocking

Morning, all! :)

Today I wanted to try a bit of color blocking with one embossed image spanning across all the colors. I think it’s a cool, simple look.

Don’t be afraid to cut your stamps

I also cut apart a stamp from this stamp set in order to isolate the sentiment and stamp it without the border. I used to hate cutting my stamps, but I figure it’s worth it if I use the stamp more often after it’s cut. So don’t be afraid to modify your stamps to fit your needs.

Anyhow, I hope your day is fabulous! Enjoy!

  1. OH!! What a great idea with the color blocking! I’ll be trying this today. I see some masculine cards coming out of this idea. Thank you!

  2. Great card. I am one of those so scared to cut my stamps :) Keep tempting me… maybe I will break down and try it.
BTW – I love the polka dot nails this week. So Cute!!

  3. I just wanted to say that I LOVE this card and you have really inspired me to make a few like this myself! Thanks!

  4. Hi Kristina, Ive been a fan for almost a year now and I truly love your work. I have a question…..I cant believe I havent ask yet but, what kind of camera do you use? and how do you get your name stamp on the corner? ok sorry 2 questions. I was hoping to try it out and have no clue.

    Thanks a bunch
    Aida

  5. Kristina, I loved your card and video today (and also your cool nails). Your color blocked card is wonderful and gives another look to background stamps.
I too have been afraid to cut apart my stamps but you are right about getting more use out of the frames and words when they are seperated. TFS

  6. You are so brave, cutting your stamps. I just cut one from the June card kit to make your (you are absolutely delightful card) and it makes me nervous. Even if I know the stamp is still okay! Todays card is very colorful and I love all the embossing. Thanks for all your ideas!!! *denise*

  7. Love this card.

I cut stamps apart all the time (especially sentiment ones – that way can have more options of how it can be put on a card)

  8. Great technique, I’m definitely going to try it. And thank you for the permission to cut my stamps, i have that set and have only used it once because of the frame. I’ll be getting out the scissors tonight.

  9. Very nice! I love the color blocking. A fairly simple card that packs some punch.

  10. I love that the color blocking is fast and easy but adds interest to the card. I agree with Dixie, this would be a great idea for masculine cards.

  11. What a great idea! You are always thinking of creative ways to make such clean and fairly simple cards. I always enjoy your tutorials.

  12. Really creative, thanks for another great tutorial!

  13. Great card. Thanks for showing us how you cut the sentiment out without destroying the border!

  14. An absolutely stunning card, Kristina! Love the colours, the embossing, everything!

I, too, have been following you for a while now (it will be close to a year now, we’ll have our little anniversary soon :)), and you inspired me to start making my own cards! I have recently entered an online competition on Facebook, and my card was chosen top 6, which I found an amazing achievement! The rest of the verdict unfortunately depends on “likes”, hence I stand no chance, but I am still soooo proud and happy…

Thank you for being my inspiration!

  15. I LOVE this card!

  16. Oh for heaven’s sake! Rich razzleberry? I’d love to see some of the cards other commenters make!

  17. By the way, I LOVE this idea Kristina! You are a genius! Really, how come I never think of these cool things like you do???

  18. Yet, another great card! Thanks for sharing

  19. Waw adorable card. Hugs! Mojca

  20. I like it!
Never thought of cutting the sentiment out of the frame before – brilliant!

  21. Your nails look fantastic today!!!!

  22. I am hooked on my stamp press because of you, thank you! I noticed that you never use it when you’re doing background stamps. I LOVE it for background stamps (they fit perfectly!) and I’m never left with those pesky voids when using a solid block. Try it out, I think you’ll love it, too!
I love this card and your nails are rocking!
