Autumn Wreath Watercoloring

Happy Wednesday, all! I hope you’re ready for another autumn wreath (see my first one here, and second one here). Wow, I’ve done a lot with wreaths recently, right? LOL! I can’t help it! Wreaths are gorgeous and so fun to work with on cards. :) For today’s wreath card, I’m using Pretty Pink Posh’s Autumn Wreath stamp set and watercolors.

(Wondering what I used in this video? Everything is linked to multiple sources in the thumbnails at the end of this post, or in the text below. Compensated affiliate links used when possible).

When I started this card, I wanted it to be essentially a one layer card with everything done on watercolor paper. So I stamped and embossed the wreath image from the Autumn Wreath stamp set, and then added a greeting from the Simply Sayings: Kind stamp set. I watercolored over the wreath using Mijello Mission Gold watercolors, and soon realized that I didn’t like the greeting inside the wreath because it was just a bit too large.

To save the card (because I really was loving how the watercoloring turned out), I decided to die cut the wreath and adhere it to a kraft colored card instead. Then I used the smaller “Autumn Greetings” stamp from the stamp set inside the wreath.

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you enjoyed the card and video. :)

Pretty card, nice save. I have “been there, done that” on a few cards and it’s a nice feeling to know that I can still use the card. Sometimes I like the new card better! Lol!

Beautiful autumnal colours, great video. Kristina I think it’s not that people like to see you mess up, it’s the how to rescue it when this kind of event happens, maybe it’s a bit of us seeing that it can still happen to fab card makers like yourself as well we don’t feel so useless. It’s that or we bombard you with our actual.disasters with a brief how we got it to there & watch as you rescue our work, but from me alone your mail person may quit.

Great video, Kristina! I love watching your process. I really liked the way your card turned out, but, I wasn’t that bothered by the squeezed in sentiment in the first place. There was a time (not too long ago) when if I wasn’t satisfied early on, I would probably give up or start over. Lately, however, I’m hearing this voice in my head saying “Keep going” and it turns out I’m usually happy with the results. Thanks.

Truth be told, this is the best card I’ve seen using this wreath! (even if it started out as a mistake) The colors are GREAT.

Wonderful card Kristina! Before I watched your video I thought you had coloured the wreath on Desert Storm paper as well! Love your ‘save’ :o)

Such a beautiful card with those lovely colours! I love seeing a good rescue too! I must admit, my cards rarely turn out as planned. I’m almost always rescuing them and they often end up better than I had planned. I’ve learned to just go with the flow, lol. I will also admit that sometimes I will follow up a “fixed” card by making the one I planned in the first place. Not often but sometimes

It’s nice to know that I am not the only one who has to “save” a card. It turned out lovely.
