This is the second installment in my One Layer Card mini series. For this card and video I chose to focus on masking. Here are some tips for masking…
One Layer Card Masking Tips
- Sketch out your idea first. This will give you the opportunity to plan ahead and figure out the logistics of masking.
- Consider contrast. Because you’re working with only one layer, there must be sufficient contrast between the masked areas. While I love this card that I made, I wish I would have had more contrast between the masked areas. Today’s card shows good contrast, but that one was… shall we say, pushing it. The issue was with the amount of patterns going on. :)
Unfortunately cards like this are sort of “one off” cards, meaning that it would be difficult to re-use the masks. I’m sure you could attempt to do so, but it’s much easier to know going into it that this is a one of a kind card. Make it for someone special. :)
