Holiday Card Series 2018 – Day 1 – Hot Cocoa Warm Wishes

For those who are are new to my blog and videos, the Holiday Card Series consists of 25 holiday card inspiration videos. I’ll be sharing holiday inspiration every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday until November 30. Today is Day 1! I’m so excited to get this year’s series started. :)

(Wondering what I used in this video? Everything is linked to multiple sources in the thumbnails at the end of this post, or in the text below. Compensated affiliate links used when possible).

For Day 1, I started with the Thanks a Latte stamp set from Lawn Fawn. I colored one of the mugs and a candy cane using Copic Markers, and then die cut the images.

To create a glitter striped background, I cut narrow strips of Lawn Fawn’s Holiday Sparkle Cardstock and adhered them to a separate piece of paper. I added white cardstock above and below the stripes, and then diecut a window using the Reverse Stitched Scalloped Circle Windows dies.

Thanks for stopping by today! I’ll be back on Monday with Day 2!

I have been following this card series for the whole 10 years…. happy 10th series. I can’t believe it’s here and I am so excited. My favorite time of year. Today is my birthday, what a great present. I just adore that stitched circle die from Lawn Fawn. I have a coupon from them for my birthday, so you know what…. happy bday to me! That die has my name on it. Good to see you again and your lovely curls today.

Happy 10th anniversary of your card Xmas series, this is my first year with you. Wicked card, great colours in the glitter card, enough sparkle without ending up with you wearing more than is on your card. Can not wait till video 2.

Wow, Happy 10th anniversary!! This will be my second year following your holiday card series and I’ve been following your blog and YouTube channel for about a year and a half. Your talent and creativity brings so much inspiration and I love reading your blog posts and watching your videos!

This card is just wonderful and I love how you added the glitter strips in the background. Great technique I’ll have to try and remember. Looking forward to seeing the 24 other holiday cards. I’m sure they’ll be amazing.

I absolutely love your holiday card series and have been watching since the beginning! Thank you so much for all the time and effort you put into each of these. I’m going to try and challenge myself to play along and make a card similar to the one you have created. This video is perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon, curled up on the couch with a Starbucks chai tea latte and a turkey dinner cooking in the oven. It’s our Canadian Thanksgiving weekend.

I started following you about a year ago, but I went “back” in time, and the card that I will never forget is the kitty stack Christmas card. I went “in search” of a “Merry Christmas” die that would be long enough to fit along the side, as my handwriting is not the best. Now that I’ve got all the parts, I’ll be making that card for a few select friends! :-)
BTW, I love how you did “inlaid” the strips. Great idea!!

Yay! The most wonderful time of the year has started again! Happy 10th anniversary, Kristina! I have watched all series and am looking forward to this one. I still have some 40 cards to make (I already created about 40 throughout this year), so I’m hoping to get some extra inspiration to get going. Love the LW stamp set and dies.

Kristina, your idea to create a “flat paper” by using extra paper strips above and beneath the glitter paper is great!
Thanks for starting a HCS for us again! Every year it’s like an early Advent Calendar for me. And it’s much more inspiring than the daily little chocolate! :-)

    Greetings from Wiebke (KomMa-designed)

Happy to see the series again this year. I have that LF die, but mine doesn’t have a heart, it has as smaller circle. I wonder why? I’ll check with LF. Love your card. I’m adapting it for a Halloween card. Can’t wait for the rest of the series which is today, because I’m behind to begin with. lol.
