For those who are are new to my blog and videos, the Holiday Card Series consists of 25 holiday card inspiration videos. I’ll be sharing holiday inspiration every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday until November 30. For today’s card, I started from a sketch and did not use any stamps or dies! It’s all watercolor painting. :)
(Wondering what I used in this video? Everything is linked to multiple sources in the thumbnails at the end of this post, or in the text below. Compensated affiliate links used when possible).
I started by sketching my design onto white hot press watercolor paper. I taped the paper to a hardboard to prevent warping while painting, and coated each twinkly light on the design with masking fluid.
After the masking fluid was dry, I painted the entire scene. I let the watercolor dry, and then gently rubbed the masking fluid away. I used a very fine black pen to draw the lines on the twinkly lights, and a white gel pen to write “Merry Cactmas” on the red ribbon banner.
To finished off the card, I created a card base out of white cardstock and adhered the watercolor painting to the front.
Thanks for stopping by today! I’ll see you on Monday for Day 23!
