Holiday Card Series 2019 – Day 14 – Painted Ornaments

Happy Monday, all! Today I’m back with Day 14 of the Holiday Card Series! This years series of videos goes up every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 8am MT, through December 20! Thanks for stopping by!

Today’s card features two stamp set from Honey Bee (Santa Express and Season to Sparkle), plus painting with FineTec watercolors.

(Wondering what I used in this video? Everything is linked to multiple sources in the thumbnails at the end of this post, or in the text below. Compensated affiliate links used when possible).

Before painting, I drew circles for the ornaments onto black watercolor paper with a compass drawing tool. I made sure that the circles are sized perfectly for the sentiments in the stamp sets.

Then I painted the circles using FineTec pearlescent paints. After they were dry, I stamped the sentiments in VersaMark ink and applied white embossing powder. I used the Santa Express stamp set for the smaller ornament, and the Season to Sparkle stamp set for the larger ornament.

After the greetings were on the ornaments, I painted the caps on the ornaments and also the ribbons on top. To finish the ornaments, I drew a white string above each ornament with a white Gelly Roll pen.

The watercolor panels were adhered to white card bases made out of 120 lb. Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock.

Thanks for tuning in today! I’ll be back on Wednesday with Day 15 of the Holiday Card Series!

Beautiful!!! I’m not sure my hands would be steady enough to paint like you did but might be able to paint a larger area and then diecut the circles. Love the black watercolor paper.

Oh, I do love these cards. The contrast of the black and the pearlescence of the ornaments is so striking. Thanks for another fabulous video, can’t believe we are to day 14 already.

Beautiful! As you were placing the panels on the white card bases, I was thinking , “wow, the recipients of these cards are getting little pieces of artwork from Kristina Werner!” I’m not sure why I never thought about that before; just something about these cards hit me today. Thanks so much! :)
