Layered Metallic Watercolor + “Hand Drawn” Accents

NOTE: This post is sponsored by Simon Says Stamp.

Hi all! Today I have a card that was so much fun creating! It’s a watercolor card using both traditional watercolors (American Crafts Paper Fashion Watercolors) and FineTec Pearlescent Watercolors.

(Wondering what I used in this video? Everything is linked to multiple sources in the thumbnails at the end of this post, or in the text below. Compensated affiliate links used when possible).

I started out by masking off six squares in a window pane pattern using masking tape. Then I wet each square with water and dropped in watercolors. After letting it dry, I added small areas of gold pearlescent paint.

Small patterns were stamped in three squares using images from the Hello Darling stamp set and then traced over using a white gel pen. I also added a thin lined border to the other squares.

To finish off the card, I cut the Take Care dies four times, stacked the die cuts, and adhered the greeting to the card.

Thanks for stopping by! :)

This is beautiful. I love your watercolor videos. It’s amazing to me how you just drew those gel pen lines inside the boxes freehand. They were perfectly straight.

Just gorgeous! I really like this card … so much so that I think I may drag out my supplies and try to replicate it (haven’t been in my craft room for MONTHS!). I have one question before I start though … you stamped the flowers and leaves in purple and then COMPLETELY covered them with your white gel pen … why? Would stamping (or embossing) in white have had the same result? Or did you get a particular look that you couldn’t get any other way?

Always enjoy your incredible talent! Thank you SO much for sharing it with the rest of us!
