Masking & Stencil Blending – Make a Card Monday #280

Happy Monday, all! Today I decided to make some customized cards for friends who are celebrating birthdays soon. I created a card for each person with their initial using the Mega Alpha Dies from Altenew (which are on sale currently at their shop–If you’ve thought about picking any of these up, now is the time!). To add fun color, I blended inks around the letters.

(Wondering what I used in this video? Everything is linked to multiple sources in the thumbnails at the end of this post, or in the text below. Compensated affiliate links used when possible).

For the Letter C card, I used the Mega Alphabet C die and cut out some masking paper. After applying the letter mask to white cardstock, I blended four colors of Gina K Designs ink over the letter area using Picket Fence Blender Brushes. I used In the Navy, Turquoise Sea, Sea Glass, and Lemon Drop.

I then placed the Thick Brush stencil from Gina K over the entire area and blended the same colors over it again. This left behind an awesome pattern!

For the next card, I used the Mega Alphabet J die, Altenew’s Mega Rose stencil, and three colors of Gina K ink in Lemon Drop, Peach Bellini, and Passionate Pink.

The final card was created in the fashion way. I used the Mega Alphabet L die, Altenew’s Deco Wonder stencil, and Gina K inks in Passionate Pink, Wild Wisteria, and In the Navy.

I love how these turned out! I can’t wait to mail them off to the recipients!

Thanks for stopping by today. I’ll be back soon with another card video. :)

Fantastic cards. Love them all. I think my favourite in the letter C.. love the pattern on it, and my daughter name starts with a C.

Gorgeous! I like the pattern best on the C card, but the colors on the L. Truth be told, though, they are all fabulous.

    Hi:
I enjoy your teachings, thanks so much for your time on doing them. My favorite is the letter C, I like the leaves. :)

I really enjoy watching your blending techniques and colour pallets. I like L best my fav colours and and the shapes in the stencil go well with the L shape. But the others are great too! we are all very lucky to have you sharing your talents.

Kristina – these are gorgeous! My favorite is the L – for the color and the letter! I went right up to my craft room after I watched this and made a card using this technique for a friends birthday. Thank you so much for all of your inspiring videos!

My favorite was the “C”. I think it’s the stencil that makes it stand out.

I like the leaf background of C and the colors in L the best. Thanks you for your wonderful videos – I enjoy each one so much!!

I think the C is my favorite. I do like the L color palette also.

All three cards are lovely! My favorite is the “C”. The stencil’s small designs show more than the large stencil design of the rose and the small leaf shapes are softer than the Art Deco stencil.
Love to see your cards and new ideas for us!

    C, color

  • Reply Lynda July 10, 2019 at 12:36 pm

Although my initial is L, I prefer the C card because of the stencil and color pallet.

Awesome cards Kristina. My favorite is the card with the letter L. I love the pattern and the colours you used on this card the most, although the other two are also gorgeous. Thank you for showing your always great inspriation.

Fantastic idea, my favourite is L, then J, this is purely down to the mix of colours you chose but I just pips it to the top by that awesome stencil pattern. Thank you for sharing this inspiring video x
