My favorite iPhone photo apps

Hi all!

As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, I wanted share with you a list of my favorite iPhone apps for photos. The camera on the iPhone 4 is incredible and find myself taking more and more photos with it. As Chase Jarvis says, “The best camera is the one that’s with you.” :)

Hipstamatic

Hipstamatic, $1.99 – The photo app I use most often. Takes everyday photos and makes them look amazing with filters! Allows you to save photos at full resolution. When photos are converted to 300 dpi for printing, photos are 6.4″ x 6.4″ (taken with iPhone 4). I love the shake-your-phone-get-a-random-filter thing. The app comes with a few different lenses, flashes, and film types. You can purchase additional sets for $0.99 each. My favorite is The Mission HipstaPak. :)

Oh, and blog reader Janice sent me a link to Hipstamaticat today. All cat photos taken with the Hipstamatic app! I submitted photos of Mannie, so let’s hope he makes the cut and is shown on the blog. :)

Examples of Hipstamatic Photos:

Photogene

Photogene, $1.99 for iPhone, $2.99 for iPad – Great for basic editing of photos. Can adjust resolution, sharpness, exposure, color temperature. Crop, rotate, and add fun talk bubbles and frames.

Instagram

Instagram, $0.00 – Similar to Hipstamatic in that it adds filters to photos you take. Built in social networking system where you can follow your friends and see what pictures they are taking. The downside is that you can only follow your friends from within the iPhone app. You can’t see their photo feeds from the web, just individual photos if they post them to Facebook, Twitter, etc.

Examples of Instagram Photos:

Incredibooth

Incredibooth, $0.99 – Takes four successive photos and arranges them into a photo booth strip of photos. When photos are converted to 300 dpi for printing, photos are 1.7″ x 9″ (taken with iPhone 4). Three different filter settings to choose from.

moreBeaute

moreBeaute (skin retouch), $0.00 – Really simple app for softening and brightening photos. The premise behind this app is that you can use it to make people look better in photos. I haven’t used this one too much yet, but I think it might be fun. :)
