Happy Wednesday, all! A few weeks ago, I ran into Amy Tan while I was attending Creativation in Phoenix, Arizona (it’s an industry trade show for retailers). She was debuting a new watercolor set she created in collaboration with American Crafts. And talk about cute! At the size of a sunglasses case, the Amy Tangerine Watercolor Set ( SSS | AMZUS ) is perfect for travel! Thank you, Amy, for gifting me with my very own set! In today’s video, I’m testing out the watercolor set by painting a card with images from Mama Elephant’s new Poppy Flowers stamp set.

I found the selection of colors to be pretty spot on for color mixing, and the watercolors themselves to be easy to work with. While not artist grade, they are still vibrant and activate quickly when adding water. I believe the paints are the standard half pan size, so if you wanted to you could swap out the paints that come with the set with any other half pan watercolors in order to create your personal ultimate set of watercolors.
I think where this set stands out is in it’s organization and compact design. Practically everything you’d need to watercolor on the go is included! I especially love the water container, which had a very fine tip that fits inside the barrel of the water brush. You just squeeze and the water brush fills up with water. It’s so easy to refill the water brush!
The set also comes with a fold-out mixing palette, a pencil for sketching, a black pen, and a small sponge (which can be used to clean the water brush). It’s a very thoughtfully designed set.
I think it’s perfect for travel! In fact, I’m currently on a cruise with some new crafting buddies and the only watercolors I packed were this set! I’ll update you all on this set after I have a chance to really test it out while traveling. :)
Thanks for stopping by today! I’ll be back on Friday with another Distress Oxide ink blending video.
