Watercoloring with Karin Markers (My new favorite!)

NOTE: This post is sponsored by Simon Says Stamp. Thank, Simon!

Hello, all! You might have noticed some new markers in the Simon store recently. Brushmarker PRO markers from Karin are dye-based liquid ink markers and work beautifully for watercolor! Today I’m sharing with you a card made using various colors of markers and the new Cosmos Bloom Background stamp.

(Wondering what I used in this video? Everything is linked to multiple sources in the thumbnails at the end of this post, or in the text below. Compensated affiliate links used when possible).

Watercoloring with Karin Markers (a NEW favorite!)

I used two techniques for watercoloring with the Karin Markers. First, I scribbled three different colors on a slick surfacesprayed the ink with water to liquify it more, and then smooshed the watercolor paper into the ink. The colors mixed and melded and created a beautiful, organic background.

For the second technique, I took the markers and colored directly onto the watercolor paper. Then I spread the ink with a water brush. The ink spread out so easily and seamlessly! Practically effortless.

I finished off the card by cutting the watercolor panel with an A7 Layers die from Waffle Flower, and diecut a greeting from CZ Design’s You Da Best die set.

Thanks for stopping by today! You can check out all of the Karin Markers in the Simon store HERE

Beautiful card. I love the idea of smooching it to get the initial color down and then enhancing it with the watercolors. How fun. Thanks for another fabulous video.

Such an amazing card and cool pens! You completely sold me on them and I just took the leap and bought the 60-piece set off the Karin website. Really wish you you were part of their affiliate program too because it was hard to resist not taking advantage of their full box set with extra blender pens. Plus when I paid in Polish currency with my Costco Visa (with no foreign currency conversion fees) it was like getting 15% off plus free shipping too. Thanks for sharing. I’m super excited to see how you use them in the future.

Thank you Kristina. I would not have thought of Ink smooshing with them but after seeing yours, it makes me want to try them. I was wondering if you could tell how different these are from the Zig brush markers and the Altenew ones. I haven’t invested in either and want to get an idea.

What a beautiful card Kristina! I really enjoy when you try out new products and film your exploratory process. I too am curious as to how these pens compare with other brands. After seeing your video, through a search I found a lettering artist who also gave a very positive review. She said she would recommend the Karin markers over Tombow markers. I am wondering if these are more similar to a Zig, or to a Tombow? Or somewhere in between?
