4 FUN WAYS to Use Stripes – Make a Card Monday #287

Happy Monday, all! Today I’m playing with four different ways to not only create stripes on cards, but also four ways to then incorporate stripes into card designs. I’ll be using new stamps and dies from Simon Says Stamp’s Stamptember release! I’m using the Healing Hugs stamp set and coordinating dies.

Card 1 – Masked & Ink Blended Stripes
For my first card, I created stripes by masking and ink blending five colors of Distress Oxide Ink: Picked Raspberry, Ripe Persimmon, Mustard Seed, Peacock Feathers, and Seedless Preserves. I used 2″-wide Post-It tape for all the masking (you could also cut wide strips of masking paper instead).
Then I stamped the large “Get Well Soon” from the Healing Hugs stamp set, as well as the floral frame onto the striped background. I heat embossed the stamped images using white embossing powder.

Card 2 – Watercolor Stripes
The stripes on my second card were created by first penciling in the stripes using a ruler, then watercoloring the stripes. I finished off the card by stamping the “Sending Healing Hugs” and floral frame on vellum, and gold heat embossing the images. I then diecut it using the coordinating Healing Hugs dies.
The vellum greeting piece was adhere to the card by running it through a Xyron Creative Station Lite machine to apply adhesive to the entire back of the vellum. This allowed me to adhere the vellum to the card without any adhesive showing.

Card 3 – Stamped Stripes
For my third card, I created stripes by stamping with the Jumbo Stripes stamp set from Simon Says Stamp. I used four different ink colors from Simon: Hot Mama, Teeny Bikini, Jellybean, and Teal. Two greetings from the Sending Hugs stamp set were stamped on top of the stripes and white heat embossed.
Flowers and leaves from Simon’s Look For the Rainbows stamp set were stamped in Versafine Onyx Black ink on a white card base, and then the striped pieced was adhered over the top.

Card 4 – Paper Pieced Stripes
My final card with stripes was created by paper piecing strips of paper. I used the Color Crush Solids pack of paper from The Stamp Market. I cut each color into 1/2″ wide strips and then adhered them to a separate piece of white cardstock.
The card was finished by die cutting “Healing Hugs” using vellum and Licorice Twist cardstock from Bazzill and adhering the die cuts to the card.
Thanks for stopping by today! As I mentioned above, the Healing Hugs stamp set and dies are brand new products from Simon. They are part of the Stamptember 2019 release! As part of the month-long celebration, Simon is having a party today with many designers sharing projects using the new release. As part of the party, I have a special code for you! Each person sharing today will have a different offer code for you to use when shopping!
Once again, thanks for visiting me today. See you soon!
