Easy Galaxy with Distress Paints – Make a Card Monday #256

Happy Monday, all!

In the giveaway from a week ago, I asked you guys what types of cards you’d like to see more of. The most requested card type was masculine cards (see the poll results HERE). That’s where this card started. :) I thought it would be cool to create some sort of galaxy with stars.

I knew I needed to use an opaque medium that would allow me to add light colors over dark, so I decided to try creating a galaxy using Distress Paints. And it worked great on my first try! I was so surprised! I also “discovered” a less messy way to add splotches of paint without having to flick the paint with a brush or something like that, which when I do that more paint ends up NOT on my project–LOL!

So, be sure to watch the video below to see how it was created. (Check out the supplies below for exact colors I used). :)

To create the monochromatic pattern on the inside of the card, I stamped the Highline Chalkboard Background stamp from Hero Arts & BasicGrey in black ink on dark gray cardstock and adhered it to the right edge of the inside of the card. The greeting and drawn star stamps are from Technique Tuesday’s I Like You stamp set. And the rest of the stars are from Simon’s Lots of Stars stamp set.

Hope you enjoy the video!
