Finally Friday – Pass Some Love Around
Christmas is barely over, but we’re heading into Valentine’s Day! Time to make some heart-filled lovey dovey cards. :)
For this week’s Finally Friday card, I used the One and Only stamp set from American Crafts, some papers from We R Memory Keepers’ Be My Valentine collection, and a postage stamp chipboard piece from Maya Road’s Love Notes Chipboard set.
I also got to use my new sewing machine! :) Mostly, I got a sewing machine so I could learn how to make actual fabric projects, but sewing on papercrafting things is a bonus, too. :) For those that are curious, I got this Brother sewing machine. It’s extremely easy to use! My mom helped me set it up on Wednesday night and I was in business within an hour or two. She was showing me what to do, but then I said, “Wait a minute. You’re going back to Arizona in a couple days. I need to learn this for myself.” LOL! So she stepped aside a bit and let me read the manual and learn how to thread the machine. Besides a very short unit in home-ec class in junior high, I haven’t really used a sewing machine. So the fact that I set myself up so quickly is a testament to what an easy sewing machine to use it is. :)
Oh, I guess I lied a bit. :) I did use my mom’s sewing machine on a happy birthday card and this holiday card about a million years ago. But she set it up for me and all I had to do was press the foot peddle.
My first non-paper sewing project? I’m making some very simple dining chair seat covers (basically a box with an open side). I found a simple pattern in The Sewing Bible (one of the books I ordered with my machine).
Anyhow, enjoy!
