NOTE: Today’s video for the Holiday Card Series will be up tonight. Wanted this post to be at the top of the blog for a while today. :)
Hi all! Today a bunch of us are taking part in the Simon Says Stamp Gratitude Blog hop. Since Thanksgiving is tomorrow, it’s the perfect time to share what we’re most grateful for, and also share a little something with you guys, too.
So at this time of Thanksgiving, I am grateful for the series of events that have lead me to where I am today. :)
It’s hard to believe that if I hadn’t applied for a job at Stampin’ Up! 8 years ago (without knowing a single thing about the company), and if they hadn’t taken a chance on a new college graduate with a design degree who didn’t know a stamp from a rubon, I may have never found this incredible hobby. A hobby which then turned into an obsession, and then a career. I’m grateful that I get to “make pretty things” as part of my job. And who knew that all those times I sketched and doodled in church or class would actually help me later. LOL!
For new visitors to my blog, you might not know my story. You can read more about it here, but in short, I was hired by SU to design their international catalogs. Then a couple years into that position, I transitioned to their Product Design department where I created and designed actual products. Stamps, rubons, patterned paper, you name it. It was an amazing, creative experience to be making new products every day. That position then led me to BasicGrey where I did much of the same, but got a different look at the industry. And then now to Simon Says Stamp where I not only have the incredible opportunity to pull together product for card kits and illustrate original stamp sets, but I also get to work from home and with the most generous and caring people I know.
I would also be remiss if I didn’t take the time to thank each and every one of you who watch my videos and visit my blog each day. Your kind and sweet comments are so amazing and I’m eternally grateful for your encouragement. As if this “hobby” wasn’t fun enough, you guys make sharing here that much more meaningful.
I sure do have a lot to be thankful for. :)
A Little Thank You Card
So last night I had the opportunity to sit down and create a thank you card as part of the blog hop. I love the image of this girl in the stamp from The Greeting Farm that I used on the card below. She’s so cute! She reminds me of my sister with light brown hair who loves to listen to and sing right along with music. She’s passed her love of music on to her five children (who sometimes sing for the camera without knowing they’re being filmed. LOL!)…

That was 5 years ago. You can see my sister walking around in the background. Kate didn’t know the camera was recording. :)
Anyhow, so here’s the card…
Giveaways (Yes, two of them!)
As part of the blog hop, each of us will be giving away a $50 donation to the charity of a commenter’s choice. Just leave a comment with what you are most grateful for and you will be entered in the drawing. There is no need to put the charity of your choice in your blog comments – Simon will contact the winners. After the winner is chosen, Simon Says Stamp will be in touch with you to find out the charity you have chosen. We will draw winners on Wednesday 11/28.
Also, as part of this blog hop, Simon sent each of us a little goodie package so that we could create a card to share. Since I already have most of the product they sent, I’ve set it aside the new items to share with one of you. I’ll also randomly select one commenter to receive the supplies that Simon sent me. Same comment deadline: Wednesday 11/28.
Early Black Friday Sales :)
This Friday Simon Says Stamp will offer a Black Friday discount code to its customers for 35% off selected items in the store. But blog hoppers get the code early for stopping by my blog! Click here to see the items that are included in the sale. Enter SIMONBF35 in the Promotion Code box (be sure to use all CAPS) and you will get 35% off of those items. Happy Shopping!
Thanks for stopping by! I’m at the tale end of the blog hop, so your final hop is to the Simon Says Stamp Blog. If you’re just starting the hop, you’ll be able to see all the hop participants there, too, and start the hop from the beginning. :)
