Holiday Card Series 2012 – Day 25

Hi all! Can you believe we’re at Day 25 already? Craziness!
Today’s card is almost a one-layer card. I originally planned it to be a one-layer card, but I didn’t want to leave so much white space around the stamped area so I trimmed it down and mounted it on some Neenah Desert Storm cardstock. Although it isn’t technically a one-layer card, it almost is. :)
The cute image of the girl is Holiday Anya 2 from The Greeting Farm. I adore her! And I loved coloring her hair, too. In fact, you love coloring hair and skin, I really recommend stamp images from The Greeting Farm or La-La Land Crafts. Both brands have great images for coloring skin and hair. You’ll be able to see the coloring process in today’s video, too.
To add the snowflakes around Anya, first I cut out a mask of the image and then covered her up. I then stamped snowflakes from Hero Arts’ Designer Snowflakes stamp set in Baja Breeze ink around her.
Random note about Stampin’ Up!’s new ink pads because some of you asked… From my experience over the last few months, I find that the new SU inks work with clear stamps better than the previous ink did. I haven’t had any blotchy-splotchy issues with the new ink compared to the old ink formulation when using clear stamps. Markers, on the other hand, still have this issue which is why I did the following…
The sentiment stamp used on the card is from My Favorite Things’ Seasonal Sentiments stamp set. I did a bit of “stamp surgery” to make the surface of the stamp more gritty and so I could use markers. The stamp was a bit too slick at first and I couldn’t get a good impression. But by lightly sanding the stamp, the marker ink was able to stick to the stamp and give me a better result. You’ll see in the video how I did that.
Anyhow, it’s been awesome creating these 25 video for you guys! Like with previous years, I will be selling a PDF of card sketches based on the cards. I’ll be putting that up on Monday. :)
