Holiday Card Series 2015 – Day 15

Today I have a watercolored scene card for you for Day 15 of the Holiday Card Series. :)

I started with a bird stamp from Winnie & Walter’s Happiest of Holidays stamp set to start the scene, and then sketched around the bird to finish the branch.

This scene was heavily influenced by the Winter Song 9″ Accent plate from Lenox. I’ve admired the Winter Song fine china pattern for years and years. It’s just so beautiful to me! Well, this is the year I’m finally going to purchase it. I’ve noticed that it’s sold out in many places online (Yikes! Does that mean Lenox is discontinuing it?), but it looks like Wayfair has the 4-piece set for an awesome price. :)

The scene was painted on Arches cold press watercolor paper and painted using American Journey Artist’s Watercolors. This was the first time I’ve attempted a realistic scene like this (well, as realistic as you can get when I’m totally making up the leaf shapes–ha!). Now I want to keep practicing until I’m comfortable with scenes like this. :)

Hope you enjoy the video!
