Holiday Card Series 2017 – Day 1 – Winter Starry Sky

Hello there! I’m so happy to be starting the 2017 Holiday Card Series today! This is truly one of my favorite times of the year and I can’t wait to jump right in! This is the ninth year of the series! For those who are are new to my blog and videos, the Holiday Card Series consists of 25 holiday card inspiration videos. I’ll be sharing holiday inspiration every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday until December 20. :)
(Wondering what I used in this video? Everything is linked to multiple sources in the thumbnails at the end of this post, or in the text below. Compensated affiliate links used when possible).
For Day 1 of the Holiday Card Series, I’m playing with two stamp sets from Mama Elephant: So Many Snowmen and Peaceful Wishes. My card is tall and skinny (3.5″ x 9″) and does not require a special envelope. It will fit inside a standard business envelope.
I stamped the snowmen image on Fabriano watercolor paper using Versafine Onyx Black Ink (which is waterproof). Then I painted the sky scene and snowmen using Sakura Koi watercolors.
To create a starry sky (or a snowy sky) I splattered some diluted white gouache onto the top portion of the watercolor scene.
For the greeting, I stamped the large “Peace on Earth” greeting in VersaMark Ink and applied some Antique Gold embossing powder from Simon Says Stamp and heat set it. I also added one of the longer small text greetings from the stamp set.
To finish off the card, I mounted the watercolor piece onto some white Neenah Classic Crest cardstock using foam tape.
Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you’re as excited about the Holiday Card Series as I am!
