Holiday Card Series 2017 – Day 23 – Glitter Inlay Diecut

Hello, all! Today I’m back with Day 23 of the Holiday Card Series. (I’ll be posting Day 24 tomorrow to catch up, since I missed uploading Day 23 on Friday). For those who are are new to my blog and videos, the Holiday Card Series consists of 25 holiday card inspiration videos. I’ll be sharing holiday inspiration every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday until December 20.
(Wondering what I used in this video? Everything is linked to multiple sources in the thumbnails at the end of this post, or in the text below. Compensated affiliate links used when possible).
Today’s card looks deceptively simple, but it does include a fun technique: inlay diecutting. I first stamped the Cold Spell stamp from Spellbinders in Spring Rain ink from Simon Says Stamp. Then I used the same ink to ink blend some color onto the end with the snowflakes.
I diecut the stamped pieced using the “Be Merry” die from Spellbinder’s Naughty or Nice die set. I made sure to reserve the interior pieces of the die cut as well. I continued diecutting by cutting the same “Be Merry” die out of Crimson glitter paper from Simon Says Stamp.
The card base was created out Neenah Classic Crest Solar White card stock, and then I applied adhesive to the front of the card. I pressed the stamped and diecut piece over the top. Then I “puzzle pieced” the glittery Be Merry die cut into the space. I pressed the saved interior pieces into the blank spaces as well.
Inlay diecutting is great for creating one-layer cards! There’s interest and dimension by using two different kinds of the cardstock (in this case stamped and glitter), but it’s all a flat layer.
I hope you enjoyed today’s card. I’ll be back very soon with Day 24. :)
