Holiday Card Series 2018 – Day 10 – Colored Pencils on a Dark Surface

For those who are are new to my blog and videos, the Holiday Card Series consists of 25 holiday card inspiration videos. I’ll be sharing holiday inspiration every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday until November 30. Today’s card features embossed images and coloring with colored pencils on a dark surface.
(Wondering what I used in this video? Everything is linked to multiple sources in the thumbnails at the end of this post, or in the text below. Compensated affiliate links used when possible).
I first stamped images from Mama Elephant’s Holiday Bitties stamp set on Steel Grey cardstock. I embossed the images using white embossing powder and then colored them with Faber-Castell Polychromos colored pencils.
To add some glitter and shine to the card, I die cut some red glitter paper using Mama Elephant’s Falala Script die, as well as cutting a narrow strip to go below the colored piece. I placed a small banner made from vellum behind the “Falala” greeting and adhered it to the colored piece using liquid glue.
I added some texture to the card by running a piece of white cardstock through my die cutting machine with an embossing folder (TIP: Mist the cardstock with a small amount of water to prevent cracking of the cardstock). I then adhered the entire piece to a 7×5 card base made out of Soft Navy cardstock.
Thanks for stopping by today! I’ll be back on Monday with Day 11 of the Holiday Card Series. :)
