How to Make a Striking Black & Gold Brushstroke Card

Hello, all! I’m back with another easy watercolor card. This time I created a bold black and gold anniversary card using Mama Elephant’s Wishing You stamp set. The large greeting form the stamp set was just calling out for a spotlight on a card. :)

I wanted a black background for the gold. If you wanted to, you could use black cardstock. However I love the look and texture of watercolor paper, so I painted three layers of thick black watercolor over the entire surface of the watercolor paper instead. I used the black from the Gansai Tambi watercolor palette. Then I painted a gold from the Gansai Tambi Starry Colors palette on top. Since it’s watercolor and can be reactivated, some black was pulled up when I painted the gold, but not too much. A quick swipe with a clean brush removed any stray black paint from the gold watercolor pan.

After the black and gold watercolor was dry, I stamped the large greeting in VersaMark ink and white heat embossed it. A thin strip of cardstock with another word stamp from the stamp set finished the greeting.

I finished off the card with a few gold sequins as well.

I hope you enjoyed today’s card! :)
