No-Line Watercoloring with Mama Elephant Stamps

Happy Monday, all! I think my most favorite images to color with the no-line coloring technique are from Mama Elephant. There’s just something about the illustrative style of their stamps that I love! I’ve been itching to watercolor one of the elephants from their Fly With Me stamp set since it came out a while ago.
(Wondering what I used in this video? Everything is linked to multiple sources in the thumbnails at the end of this post, or in the text below. Compensated affiliate links used when possible).
When I created this card, I just wanted to paint and keep things simple. So I stamped the elephant image from Fly With Me in the center of some Fabriano Artistico Extra White Hot Pressed watercolor paper. I like to use hot press watercolor paper with no-line watercoloring since I can get a sharper line of both the stamped image (which makes it easier to color), and also the edges of the watercoloring are more defined.
I stamped the elephant in Antique Linen Distress Ink and then coated it with Drawing Gum to protect the area while I painted the sky background. After the masking fluid was dry, I used Tumbled Glass, Shaded Lilac, and Stormy Sky Distress Inks to paint the sky.
Once completely dry, I removed the Drawing Gum and painted the elephant and balloon. Again, I used Distress Inks for this (see the exact colors below or in the video).
To finished the card, I stamped the “big hugs” greeting from the stamp set in VersaMark Ink and coated it with white embossing powder. I heat set it until smooth and melted.
Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you enjoyed the video. :)
