POW! Easy Batman Mail Art Envelope

I remember as a kid watching Batman on an old black and white television in our kitchen after I came home from school. It was Batman, followed by the Jetsons. Good times. :)

When I saw the new Just Batty stencil from CZ Design in the new STAMPtember release from Simon Says Stamp, I knew exactly what I wanted to do! I’ve been saving the Batman postage stamps that came out a few years ago for just such an occasion! See the entire STAMPtember release HERE!

(Wondering what I used in this video? Everything is linked to multiple sources in the thumbnails at the end of this post, or in the text below. Compensated affiliate links used when possible).

I created this envelope out of Bristol paper with the 1-2-3 Punch Board from We R Memory Keepers (see why I prefer this punch board over the Envelope Punch Board).

After masking off the flaps of the envelope, I ink blended using Wilted Violet and Chipped Sapphire Distress Inks for the main area of the envelope. The purple shade was a perfect match for the purple on the Batman postage stamp!

I moved the masking tape and worked on the flap next. I wanted yellow bats with a black background, so I first used the Just Batty stencil and ink blended Mustard Seed over it for the yellow bats. Then I applied clear embossing powder and heat set it. With the yellow bats protected by the slick surface of the embossing, I then blended Black Soot over the top. The embossed areas resisted the ink.

Kriste’s address was added using black markers, with white markers for an outline.

NOTE: Address used with permission. Thanks, Kriste! To submit your address for use on future mail art envelopes, please fill out this form. There is a new form each month to keep addresses current.

To protect the envelope from moisture, I applied a thin layer of Distress Micro Glaze and buffed off the excess.
