Watercolor Backgrounds with Nuvo Shimmer Powder

NOTE: This post is sponsored by Simon Says Stamp. Thanks, Simon!
Hello, all! I’m back with a fun idea for large greeting dies! I thought it would be fun to create simple watercolor backgrounds to go behind the new The Best Is Yet To Come and The World Needs dies from the Diecember 2019 release!
(Wondering what I used in this video? Everything is linked to multiple sources in the thumbnails at the end of this post, or in the text below. Compensated affiliate links used when possible).

I used Nuvo Shimmer Powders to create the watercolor backgrounds. I used the colors Atlantis Burst and Violet Brocade (see all the colors available HERE). These powders are fun because no only do they activate with water, but there is a gorgeous shimmer powder included!
Before applying the powder, I wet the watercolor paper with clear water. Then I gently tapped the Shimmer Powder bottle so that small bits of powder applied to the surface of the watercolor paper. Immediately upon hitting the wet surface, the magic starts happening!

I used a more water from a Distress Sprayer bottle to make the colors move even more, and coaxed it to spread with a wet paint brush as well.
Once dry, the backgrounds have a gorgeous shimmer to them!
I ran The Best Is Yet to Come and The Word Needs dies through my diecutting machine four times using white cardstock. Then I stacked each diecut together and adhered them with Gina K Connect Glue.
After adhering the diecuts to the watercolor backgrounds, I added some 8mm and 5mm sequins from Darice.
I hope you enjoyed this simple card idea! You can pick up all the supplies at SimonSaysStamp.com. :)
