Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers & Mama Elephant Chance of Rain

Have you all seen the new stamps from Mama Elephant? Adorable! I’m particularly fond of the Chance of Rain stamp set. There’s just something about that little bear in a raincoat! :) So that’s what I’ve used on today’s card. I used Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers to paint the scene, and Distress Inks for the background.

I’m still fairly new to using the Clean Color Real Brush markers, but I did discover a few things I wanted to share.

I find the easiest way to be a nice blend of color is to first do a layer of color. Then, while the watercolor paper is still wet, I add more color on top. As you blend out the additional color, the color moves more and you get a nicer transition. I think I mentioned this in a video a week or so ago, but it was very apparent to me while painting the raincoat on the little girl.

The background was made using three colors of Distress Ink: Tumbled Glass, Peacock Feathers, and Chipped Sapphire.

Oh! And I wanted to mention that I used VersaFine Onyx Black ink for stamping the scene. Did you know VersaFine works for watercoloring? I had no idea! I thought it would bleed when water was added. Not so! A got a tip from a blog reader and sure enough it says on the ink pad that it’s good for watercoloring. Sweet! I’ve always loved VersaFine because I rarely have an issue with it. I never need to re-stamp. And I’ve had the same ink pad for over three years and have never needed to re-ink it either. :)

Anyhow, enjoy today’s video! :)
